Summer Reading 2015 Jackson Academy Middle School Required Summer Reading Program for 2015 Students in each grade have a selection of books to choose from to complete their required summer reading. They should select at least TWO BOOKS from the list given for the grade that they will enter in August and then come prepared to discuss those books during the first week of school. Students must also take the AR tests for the two books they select for summer reading, and the AR tests will be counted as a reading grade. If a student reads more than two books from the list, the two highest grades from the AR tests will be recorded. The AR tests on required summer reading must be taken no later than Friday, August 14. Students may take AR tests on any AR books, including required summer reading, on designated Thursdays during the summer. Because we are restructuring the AR program, summer reading will NOT count toward any school year goals.
A Lower School classroom will be open for AR testing from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on the following Thursdays: June 11, June 18, June 25 July 16, July 23, July 30 To check the availability of AR books available for testing at JA, visit the Accelerated Reader portion of the JA website and click on “Renaissance Learning.”
