The City of Meriden Youth Services Division has been notified by the Workforce Alliance, Inc. that we may be receiving summer youth employment funding! This funding is currently in the Governor's budget and could fund up to 70 jobs for Meriden youth. Youth can pick up an application at the Meriden Health Department, Youth Services Division, at 165 Miller Street from May 14th-May 17th, after school from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. ONLY 250 applications will be available. The Supervisor of the Summer Youth Employment Program will be Terren Emery; she can be reached at 203-630-4232. Youth eligibility requirements at this time are the following: Youth must be 14-18 years old as of July 1, 2012; and The youth is eligible for the Free or Reduced School Meals Program; Is a member of a family that receives Food Stamps; Is a foster child; Is at least 18 years old and lives at home, but receives less than 50% support for family; Has a documented disability he/she is counted as a family of 1 and only the youth's income is counted; The total family income is within 185% of Poverty Income Levels (see below):
