Beloved,
It’s hard to be believe but we are already one month into the New Year. We are now in the great month of February. So what is so great about February? Is it because it is the shortest month of the year? Is it because it is the only month to change its total number of days every four years? Not really. February is great because it is the month we have chosen to stop and nationally focus on acknowledging the depth of Black History. While acknowledging this depth there will be moments were we can reinforce African-Americans impact upon history, and history’s impact upon African-Americans. Throughout history from by the likes of Carter G. Woodson (the originator of Black history week), Anna J. Cooper, Thurgood Marshall, the NAACP and Black Wall Street, many of us have helped to form and change whatever landscape that we are in. And many of us still do. And yet, as much power as we derive from praising our milestones, it all pales in comparison to the power that we get from praising the Lord for bring us through our conditions of both yesterday and today. When we praise ourselves, we get comfort. When we praise the Lord, we get the power to do more. So don’t let February be the only month you celebrate Black History, no more than Sunday be the only day you praise the Lord. Just remember God is great and greatly to be praised because He has all power and is willing to share it with us as we go along and do great things. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." Ephesians 3:20 With a Shepherd’s Love,

At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” 29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
