OUR KNOWN SICK AND SHUT-IN MEMBERS “I was sick and ye visited me…” Matthew 25:36 (Please notify the Church Office when there is a change in status.)

Beloved As we are all painfully aware, our community has been devastated by a serious winter storm. While we are thankful that the human toll was minimum, we must not forget our stewardship responsibilities. The ministry of Bethany goes forward based upon your generous giving. Without a doubt, if God chose to do so, God could fund the work of the Kingdom not only in this church, but churches in our community and around the world…yet God chooses to use people just like you and me! God knows that as we practice the wonderful gift of giving, in turn we become just a little more like God along the way. When we think of the gift of the Father, our thoughts go immediately to the wonderful portion of scripture in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We are never more like God than when we are giving. Then, when we think of Jesus, we are naturally drawn to the fact He gave His very life on the Cross to redeem lost humanity. Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Think about it…the “demonstration” of God’s love was Christ’s death on the cross! When we love, we demonstrate that love through sacrifice and so often, sacrifice involves doing things that may not be comfortable on our own, but when it is done, many lives will be blessed as a result. Let me assure you that your giving is appreciated and yes, I believe lives are being changed for the glory of God! May God continue to bless you, and we also ask for your prayers. With a Shepherd’s Love, Pastor Lacey

This sermon series is offered to help us examine the calling and challenges of the seismic moves God has already released into our New Year. MORNING SCRIPTURE ~ MARK 10:35-45 (NIV) 35 Then

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.” 36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. 37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.” 38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?” 39 “We can,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.” 41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

SERMONIC SCRIPTURE ~ MATTHEW 25:14-30 (NIV) 14 “Again,

it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. 19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ 21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ 22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!
