OUR KNOWN SICK AND SHUT-IN MEMBERS “I was sick and ye visited me…” Matthew 25:36
Beloved,
Happy Anniversary! Traditionally, for many places, celebrating an anniversary is a milestone moment. It is a time to look back at the historic accomplishments of the past. Here at the history making Bethany Baptist Church, we choose to not only to reflect on our past, but we also thirst to press forward. In answering this thirst, God led me to the theme of our 134 th anniversary, “called to do more.” Yes, we have done much, but there is still much more to do. What more is there to do? We can do more in social justice. We can go do more in gender equality. Indeed, there is much more to do. Luke 12:48 says, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Scripture also encourages each person to examine him or herself. I challenge each of us to personally search ourselves to find out how much more God is calling you to sacrifice. Much the same as when we discuss financial giving, we are called to equal sacrifice, not equal giving. I pray that God will reveal to you what your more is; maybe attending an extra/different service, joining a ministry, attending a protest, volunteer for an upcoming church function, or greet someone you haven’t yet during fellowship time. Stay thirsty by answering the call. Happy Anniversary! With a Shepherd’s Love,
Pastor Lacey

because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
