BLAZER MIDGET FOOTBALL/CHEERLEDING MEETING MINUTES

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2010 Call Meeting to Order – John Okuniewski at 7:05PM 1st Scott Ziegler, 2nd Nicole Keim Reading of the Minutes – Minutes approved by the board 1st Scott Ziegler, 2nd Melissa Spalding Board in Attendance – John Okuniewski, Michelle Lodge, Scott Darencamp and Judy Landis Treasures report – Scott Darenkamp - All new checks and receipts should be turned into Scott. We received $290.00 back from Youth Sports Photo. All refunds and late registration are complete. $3,000 under for memberships. Made up ½ for extra lottery. 5 winners per week on the lottery out of 14 possible. Cash is almost the same as last year. . Any other questions, contact Scott. 1st Ron 2nd Scott Concession Committee – Melissa Spalding and Nicole Keim - Signcrafters contacted for wrapping the snack shack. Scott Ziegler is looking for sponsors. All About Floors is a possibility. May be able to split without someone else whose wife has their own business and was in attendance at the meeting. May have different sponsors every year. We will have the concession cart wrapped only with financial sponsorship. Budget $800.00 from the board to recap the money back. Motion to budget $800.00 for the wrapping. 1st Ron Landis, 2nd Nicole Keim – Board approved. Melissa noted that the concession cart may start to open on Thursday night with a limited menu. Need 2 to 3 parents on Saturdays for home games to work inside the concession cart. . John to check with the township to get permission to store a freezer in the pavilion for storage of the concession cart food. Kelly Taney will donate a freezer. Registration – Closed for football and cheerleading Fundraising – Kelli Taney- Kelli is seeking donations for the basket bingo. We may have the basket bingo after Jan. 1st instead of in November. Kelli to have a budget in place for the next meeting for the board to vote on. Kelli shared information about a t-shirt fundraiser she has been looking into with Schuylkill Valley Sports– T-shirt for the parents with the child’s name on it. Kelli to start taking t-shirt and sweatshirt orders this week. We will do a Columbia blue with a dark blue emblem. Charge will be $10.00 for a t-shirts, $20.00 for a sweatshirt – Motion to approve 1st Kristy Ziegler, 2nd Nicole Keim Equipment – Football - Ron Landis–Will order 2 more cases of ice packs for delivery by Wednesday. Equipment – Cheerleading – Judy Landis – nothing to report Football Operations – Brett Gelband – not present - need no parking signs for every event. Cheerleading Operations – Chris Bridegam – This position needs to be included in the by-laws – The Cheerleading Operations is responsible for checking field conditions and advising cheerleading commissioner if it is unsafe to cheer and/or stunt. Be at competition and regular practice to watch the squads routine for any safety infractions. Assist cheerleading commissioner with practice schedules, safety classes, and competition paperwork, cheer camp and assist at registration. Also responsible to get parent volunteers for snack bar duty.

This position needs to be voted on for 3 consecutive meetings before becoming a by-law. Motion to accept – 1st Ron Landis, 2nd Justine Barrales. All in favor from the board – Ratified in November for start next year. Homecoming Committee – Christy Ziegler – Discussed changing the name to Parent’s Day. 1st Ron Landis, 2nd Scott Ziegler – “Parent’s Day “ this year is October 17th against Wyomissing – Week 7 at the high school. Next two Sunday’s Oct 17th and 24th will be at the high school. John to check into using the new concession stand. Kelli Taney needs a list of the all the players. Discussed gifts for players that are moving up 8, 10 and 12 year old for football. 3, 5, 6, 7th grade

for cheerleading. Discussed football pins again but may change to something else. The cheerleaders get carnations at the game and may look into a key chain instead of a pin this year. Any suggestions let Kelli know. League Representative - Merge with the other teams. (Coventry, S-F, Upper Perk, Exeter, Boyertown, Reading (2), Holy Name, Govern Mifflin, Muhlenberg. 8 teams with one cross over game. Meeting is the last Thursday or every month. John is the secretary of the league. Scott Ziegler is the alternate league rep. League Representative – Cheerleading - Wendy Gucci – Competition is October 30th at Lincoln Park. . May have another competition at Manheim. The cost is $240.00 to enter 3 squads. Motion was approved by the board. Motion approved by the board for the Lincoln Park competition which will be over $200.00 to enter. Banquet – Kristy Ziegler – Banquet to be on November 14th. Kristy needs a projection screen for the slide presentation. Kristy to order trophies.. Motion was approved to pay for the trophies. May want to order t-shirts. Look into getting helmets for the boy that are moving up and pom poms for cheerleaders. J ohn Okuniewski will make the call when we are not practicing. Michelle Lodge will make the call for cheerleading. When cheerleading is canceled, may want to cancel football as well. First Aide – Margaret Schaffer – Not present Old Business - Field Lighting- $350.00 per light tower per month – Scott suggest 2 light towers for one month = $700.00 per one month – John needs to talk to the school district and clear that with Chaz and Ken Smith. Motion approved 1st Scott Ziegler, 2nd Kelli Taney Public Comment – 10x20 storage unit– May need to go 10 x30 shed and eliminate the cheerleading shed. Scott Ziegler will look into the cost. Parents party the weekend after the banquet. November 13th. Parents Party. Tony Spalding set up a shutter fly account for pictures on the website for the use of everyone. May need to wait until next year and have the parents sign a consent at registration before using this site.
