SUNY Oneonta Softball Winter Clinic When: Sunday, February 22, 2015
Time: Registration 9-10am Camp 10am-3pm
Where: Alumni Fieldhouse on the Campus of SUNY Oneonta Cost: $50.00 per camper
Open to girls age 10 and up
The Annual SUNY Oneonta Softball Winter Clinic is intended for all girls ages 10 and up to improve their softball skills in preparation for their spring and summer softball seasons! Campers will be instructed by the coaches and players from the 2014 SUNYAC Championship team!! The Clinic will focus on developmental instruction in the morning and live game play will be included in the afternoon. We will pause for a quick lunch around 12:30pm. Please pack a lunch. (Water will be provided.) Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Please fill out the registration form and mail it to the address below along with $50.00 payment. Checks should be made payable to: SUNY Oneonta Softball. No refunds will be given without medical documentation stating camper is unable to participate in the clinic. 2014 SUNYAC CHAMPIONS!!! 2014 saw a banner season for the Red Dragon Softball team!! The team finished 30-11 with a regular season SUNYAC Championship, a SUNYAC Tournament Championship, and a trip to the NCAA Regionals!! (This was all after finishing a dismal 8-28 in 2013.) The improvement goes down as the second most dramatic turnaround in NCAA Division III Softball history! The team also led the country in double plays! 5 players were named ALL – SUNYAC – Brianna Rivera, C; Sabrina DeAngelis, P; Traci Lichtenstein, DP; Jamie Whittam, 2B; Nicole Marzillo, 1B 3 players were named NFCA All-Region – Brianna Rivera, C; Sabrina DeAngelis, P; Traci Lichtenstein, DP Sabrina DeAngelis was also named SUNYAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Year
ABOUT THE COACHES: Head Coach Sara Headley Headley is beginning her second season as the head coach at Oneonta. She has coached 36 All-Conference, 11 NFCA AllRegion, six Daktronics All-Region and two Daktronics AllAmericans in her career.
Assistant Coach John Speranzi Speranzi enters his 26th season with the SUNY Oneonta Softball program in 2014. He earned his 500th win as an assistant against Geneseo in 2014, placing him in an elite group amongst Division III assistant coaches.
Headley comes to Oneonta from Mercyhurst University (NCAA Division II) in Erie, PA. Prior to Mercyhurst, Headley served as the first assistant at Division I Florida International University. The Florida International team made its’ first-ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2003.
Pitching Coach Katie Boshart As a member of the Cortland softball team, Boshart was a three-time NFCA All-American and four-time NFCA All-Region selection. She was the SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year three times and was the ECAC Division III Upstate New York Pitcher of the Year twice during her career.
