Roundabout combines Karla Alexander’s stack, cut, and shuffle techniques with curved piecing. The blocks are made of a variety of colors and values—a good fabric stash project. The optional border can be scrappy or a single fabric. The fabric supply list offers both yardage and scrappy measurements.
Supplies Fabric Block fabric by yardage: 3/8 yards of 16 different prints* 5/8 yards for inner border (optional) 1 1/3 yards for outer border (optional) Block fabric for scrappy version: A variety of 20 squares, 11 1/2” x 11 1/2” A variety of 32 squares, 9” x 9” A variety of 22 rectangles, 6” x 7”, as fillers between blocks Optional pieced border: A variety of 44 rectangles, 6 ½” x 7 ½” *If you choose to work from yardage please cut the 11 ½” and 9” squares prior to class Other Sewing supplies Roundabout pattern by Karla Alexander 45mm or smaller Rotary cutter, 28mm is nice for cutting curves. Cutting mat, the 12” x 18” is convenient 1 yard of freezer paper for templates, or, the Circle Savvy CGSAVI Ruler by Creative Grids. If you are going to use templates, you can prepare them before class using the guide in the pattern. Sewing machine in good working order 1/4 inch foot for piecing Machine manual if your machine is unfamiliar NOTE: If your machine has a knee lift, bring it, even if you never use it.
