Have you ever wanted to know the secret behind the world’s greatest human calculators? D-E Summer Connections’ Tactile Brain holds the answers. In this course, we will use the ancient abacus method to learn flash mental calculation techniques, while also shoring up the fundamental math skills essential to success in high school and beyond. Research has shown that abacus training improves not only numerical fluency and math confidence, but also concentration, memory, and general study skills. Using a curriculum carefully designed by Master Jeonghee Lee, Korea’s first and only 11th degree Abacus Master, y ou will work extensively with the physical abacus before moving on to advanced mental math, which involves the visualization of a “mental abacus.” Incorporating fun and engaging number and memory games throughout the course, one of our goals is to help you get a feel for numbersand truly enjoy working withthem. Register for one week to get a taste or up to for five weeks to become proficient. By the end of the course, you will have more confidence in math, improved mental calculation skills, and most importantly,proof that mathcan be so much more than memorizing facts!
