From Tailor-CF7977 Red: • Cut fifteen 21/2" x WOF strips for inner border and binding. • Cut two 73/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-eight 73/8" x 13/8" strips. • Cut two 91/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-eight 91/8" x 13/8" strips. • Cut seven 25/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut ninety-six 25/8" squares.

From Tailor-CF5321 Natural: • Cut one 55/8" x WOF strip. Sub-cut six 55/8" squares. • Cut two 21/4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twenty-four 21/4" squares.

All seam allowances are 1/4" unless otherwise noted and pieces are sewn right sides together. Press after each addition.

From Tailor-CF5327 Red: • Cut one 55/8" x WOF strip. Sub-cut seven 55/8" squares. • Cut two 21/4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twenty-eight 21/4" squares. From Tailor-CF5334 Brown: • Cut one 55/8" x WOF strip. Sub-cut four 55/8" squares. • Cut one 21/4" x WOF strip. Sub-cut sixteen 21/4" squares. From Tailor-CF5334 Red: • Cut eight 31/2" x WOF strips for outer border. • Cut one 55/8" x WOF strip. Sub-cut seven 55/8" squares. • Cut two 21/4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twenty-eight 21/4" squares. From Tailor-CF7972 Cream: • Cut two 73/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-eight 73/8" x 13/8" strips. • Cut two 55/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-eight 55/8" x 13/8" strips. • Cut six 55/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut ninety-six 55/8" x 21/4" strips. • Cut seven 25/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut ninety-six 25/8" squares.

1. Draw a line diagonally from corner to corner on the wrong side of all the 25/8" CF7972 Cream squares. Pair the marked squares with the 25/8" CF7977 Red squares, right sides together. Sew 1/4" on both sides of the drawn line. Cut on the marked line, open the triangles and press the seam toward the darker fabric (figure 1). Make 192 half-square triangle units (HST). Fig. 1

2. Assemble the block according to Figure 2. Sew one 55/8" x 13/8" CF7972 Cream strip to each side of a 55/8" feature print square. Sew one 73/8" x 13/8" CF7972 Cream rectangle to top and bottom of the center square. 3. Repeat step 2 using a 73/8" x 13/8" CF7977 Red strip for each side and a 91/8" x 13/8" CF7977 Red strip for the top and bottom.

4. Noting the orientation, sew one HST to each end of the 55/8" x 21/4" CF7972 Cream strips. Sew one strip to each side of the block.

Finishing

5. Sew a 21/4" feature print square to each end of the remaining step 4 units. Sew one pieced strip to the top and another to the bottom of the block. Make a total of twenty-four blocks with the following feature print centers:

11. Stitch the remaining 21/2" CF7977 Red binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to the quilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.

11. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and handstitch the folded edge to the quilt back.



Make seven each: CF5327 Red and CF5334 Red

10. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing and quilt as desired.

Quilt Top Assembly 6. Following the quilt photo, lay out six rows of four blocks each. Stitch the blocks together in each row. Press seams in alternate directions for adjacent rows. 7. Sew the rows together in order, matching adjacent seams. 8. For the inner border, sew seven 21/2" CF7977 Red strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Stitch a border strip to each side of the quilt center and trim the extra length. Press seams toward the border. In the same manner, stitch one border to the top and another to the bottom. 9. For the outer border, sew eight 31/2" CF5334 Red strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Stitch a border strip to each side of the quilt center and trim the extra length. Press seams toward the border. In the same manner, stitch one border to the top and another to the bottom.
