Taking a moment to care for yourself: Want to attend? Volunteer Education Talks are free and open to everyone please bring a friend! Respond by: Friday, March 4, 2016 to Sina Ward at 784-7506 or email at [email protected] Come early, at 9:00 a.m. and meet fellow volunteers and others over a light breakfast sponsored by Morning Star Senior Living of Sparks. The talk will start at 10 a.m. and last about an hour. Parking: Free parking is available for this event in the metered city lot on the east side (right side as you face the front) at the UNR Nelson Building, 401 W. 2nd St., Reno.

A discussion on mindfulness practice and learning ways to improve your well-being.

Angie Charter Smith, LCSW Kim Roubo, Reiki Practitioner March 8th, 2016 Laxalt Auditorium, Nelson Building 401 W. 2nd St., Reno 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. You will be provided with an overview of Mindfulness and be introduced to the practice. Presenters will discuss the benefits of Mindfulness and will present on ways to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life. Presenters will also discuss the use of Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing, as an alternative treatment option to alleviate and manage pain and stress. Presenters: Angie Charter Smith, has worked in mental health and social services for the last 15 years. She has worked with all age groups in areas such as domestic violence and Medical Emergency Room Social Work. She developed and implemented a mindfulnessbased program at Willow Springs Center in Reno and, with a colleague, opened Midtown Mindfulness healing center in Reno in 2013. Kim Roubo, a Reiki Master Teacher, has been a Reiki practitioner since 2004. She has developed social behavioral programs in schools, and is now combining Eastern and Western techniques to help her clients achieve their wellness goals, with a focus on stress relief.
