Tandem Desk: Assembly Instructions
At LifeSpan we strive to make our equipment easy to assemble and start using. Parts that can be pre-assembled are always assembled and tested on the production line Prior to starting the assembly process take all of the parts out of the box, remove plastic bags and lay the parts out on the floor to become familiar with the components. Since this desk can be heavy, it is recommended that you use two people during assembly and follow these assembly instructions to reduce any problems that could occur.

Assembling and Attachment A. Fully assemble the DT-5 or DT-7 prior to assembling and attaching the Tandem Desk. Remove the “LifeSpan” placard from the lift frame upright (1) from the side of the desk you are assembling the Tandem Desk to. B. Attach the support bracket (2) to the DT-5 or DT-7 lift frame upright (1) with the three M8*10L bolts (5) and M8 washers (6) found in the hardware bag. There are three different mounting heights (29 in/74 cm, 30 in/76 cm, 31 in/79 cm). Choose the appropriate mounting height and tighten the support bracket to the lift frame upright. Suggestion: Loosely install the lower bolt first before installing the upper two bolts.

C. Lay the desktop upside down so that the frame is facing up. Attach the leg (4) to the desktop (3) using the four pre-installed M8*16L bolts (7) and M8 washers (6).

D. With the help of a second person, flip the desk right side up and set the desktop frame into the support bracket (2) installed in step B. Align the bolt holes of the support bracket and desktop frame. E. Install the two M8*45L bolts (8), M8 washers (6) and M8 lock nut (9) and tighten.

F. Check to be sure the desk is level and make any necessary adjustments by loosening the set screw (10) in the leg and raising or lowering the desk accordingly and re-tightening the set screw. 10

Assembly and Attachment A. Lay the expansion desk (2) upside down so the frame is facing up. Attach the leg (3) to the Tandem X Desk using the four M8*16L bolts (4) pre-installed in the desktop.

NOTE: If assembling this desk to the right side of the DT-5 or DT-7, see instructions for changing to right side desk. The Tandem X (expansion desk) attaches to the Tandem Desk. The expansion desk comes from the factory set up to work on the left side of the DT-5 or DT-7 Desk. If the Tandem desk is set up on the right side of the DT-5 or DT-7 simply remove the six screws from the bottom of the desk frame and turn the frame 180 degrees. Reinstall the 6 screws and the expansion desk is now set up to mount on the left side of the DT-5 or DT-7 desk.

B. Flip the expansion desk upright and line the mounting holes of the Tandem Desk frame (1) with the Tandem X frame (2). C. Install the two M8*70L carriage bolts (6) through the two frames and install the M8 washer (5) and M8 lock nuts (7). Do not fully tighten at this time.
D. Install the two M6*40L (8) screws through the Tandem X frame into the bottom of the Tandem desktop. Do not fully tighten at this time. E. Make sure the top surface of the Tandem and Tandem X desk are level. There is a locking screw (9) on the leg that may need to be loosened to adjust the height of the Tandem X desk prior to tightening the attaching hardware. F. Once everything is level, tighten the two M8*70L bolts (6) with lock nuts (7) and the two M6*40L screws (8).

Make sure the top surface of the Tandem and Tandem X desk are level. There is a locking screw (9) on the leg that may need to be loosened to adjust the height of the Tandem X desk prior to tightening the attaching hardware. F. Once everything is level, tighten the two M8*70L bolts (6) with lock nuts (7) and the two M6*40L screws (8).
