Tea Tent & Fete Job Role The Tea Tent, Fete and Church team covers all three of these areas, plus the area of the site which includes Glamping and the Big Church Campsite entrance. Key things to be aware of: General • The site will be open to the public from 12noon on Friday. During this Cme the Fete area will be being set up and the guests won’t have access. Stewards will need to ensure that the public do not venture onto this area. • The event site will remain open unCl approximately midnight. Again, it’s important that all designated areas are stewarded, even if most of the guests leave the area. Please don’t move from your allocated locaCon unCl released by the Chief or Deputy Chief Steward. • The bonfire is between 11.00pm and midnight on Saturday and Sunday. You may be required to monitor the crowd. • At midnight all guests are returned to the campsite – please assist the SIA with this. Fete • The Fete is a busy area, with small children oOen roaming away from their parents. Please keep an eye on the driveway in parCcular, although there should be minimal vehicle movements.
•
The Fete display area is marked out with straw bales -‐ these are not to be removed.
•
Most Fete aSracCons close around 7pm but as the whole site remains open we need to keep stewards in that area. Please ensure you stay in your allocated role, even if most guests leave the area. On the Saturday night there will be a speed daCng session in the late night slot in the Kid’s Zone on the Fete. This is a Ccketed event and stewards will be allocated to venue doors. It is important that only those with Cckets are given access.
•
Church • Wiston Church is used throughout the day. It should be treated with respect by those visiCng it. Please ensure that the numbers in it remain safe at all Cmes. •
At certain Cmes the church will be used for private events. You may be required to act as door monitors and explain that the church is temporarily being used for something else.
• The Church will close during the evening (from 7-‐10.45pm). Please ensure it is empCed and those inside are directed back towards the Main Arena. The door needs to be manned again later in the evening to manage the queue for the AOerhours.
“Team work makes the Dream work!”
Wiston House • Wiston House is out of bounds to all guests. If you see anyone approaching the conservatory doors or the fire escapes please ask them to move away. Tea Tent • If the weather remains good all Tea Tent arCsts will be on the outside stage unCl 7pm. This means stewards should focus on keeping walkways clear in the garden, as well as inside the tent. If we have rain the arCsts will move inside. We are unable to de-‐mark lines on the lawn so please ensure that gangways are created once furniture is moved inside. Fire exits must remain clear at all Cmes. • This year there is a new addiCon to the Tea Tent garden -‐ a Pimms Tent! Stewards need to be aware that alcohol will be on sale from 1pm and should report any issues to their Deputy Steward immediately. • Once the programme moves indoors stewards will need to man the doors, ensure that excess furniture is not brought in from outside and see that gangways are maintained. Gangways should be kept clear at all Cmes and it may be necessary to stop entry into the tent once it is full. Be ready to move to the doors well before the programme moves inside as people may begin to relocate in anCcipaCon.
• Once the Tea Tent closes please work with the SIA to help move those inside away from the area. Be ready for it to re-‐open by 10.15pm • During the AOerhours session (10.30pm -‐ midnight) much of the furniture will need to be stacked at the side. Stewards will need to help to do this between. Once moved out of the way it is important that guests don’t help themselves. A steward will need to keep an eye on this area. • The Tea Tent and Bar (AOer Hours only) will oOen have long queues. Once the programme moves inside it will be important to manage these queues to ensure people only stand in designated areas. Glamping • The Glamping area is accessible only to those with Glamping wristbands. No other person should be given entry, not even those in Rent A Tents (this is a change from previous years). If in doubt, please contact the Glamping Customer Service Manager, Katy Wright. •
It’s important that Glampers only park in designated areas.
•
The caSle grid by the Glamping area must be stewarded at all Cmes and only those with wristbands or passes should be allowed beyond that point.
