From the Pastor... “Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him.” John 12:9-11 Did you know that you are living the resurrected life? 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us that Jesus is the “yes” to all God’s promises. When Jesus resurrected from the dead, it was the proof and amen to every promise made toward man. One of those promises being that if you are redeemed, you are as good as resurrected to eternal life already. That’s God’s promise. Tie that understanding to the John 12 verses and you have quite the challenge. When you think of Lazarus what do you think? Resurrection, right? But did you know Lazarus was a great evangelist as well? He was so effective in evangelizing that the religious rulers wanted to silence his testimony by killing him. What was his testimony? I am a resurrected life because of what Jesus did for me. Is that any different than our testimony? No. Unfortunately, few believers live their lives in such a way that it shows the resurrected power of Jesus in their lives. Hence the challenge, does your life reflect the resurrected power of Jesus? Does it show a person walking by faith and sharing their faith through both word and action? When we were redeemed,
we not only received the Holy Spirit but also the resurrected power of Jesus through the Spirit (Philippians 3:10). As with the life of Lazarus, this resurrected power should be displayed before others so they too may come to know Jesus who, as He testified of Himself at Lazarus’ resurrection, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” If we have believed it, then let us live it.
