Several reasons to integrate... Because the safety and security of your workers is of primary concern. Many manufacturing plants are experiencing pressure to reduce their costs and this is translating into a decrease of staffing levels. Waves of experienced workers are also now beginning to retire, making place for younger, less experienced workers. As this happens, plant supervisors and managers are entrusted with the safety and security of their teams, and must ensure that their well-being is always looked after. Teldio’s application suite offers solutions that ensure employees are always monitored and never left alone. The RBX +Plus allows mobile workers to stay connected to the outside world at all times. This advanced telephone interconnect provides workers with the ability to call out at all times, whether to an internal extension or to an external emergency line. RBX +Plus greatly reduces dead zones that are often problematic with alternative mobile communications networks. Furthermore, the implementation of RBX +Plus provides radio users with increased functionality on their mobile device while considerably reducing the recurring costs of mobile communications. Examples of use in emergency situations include: • A remote worker calling 911 directly • A Supervisor notifying a group of remote workers of an emergency situation from his office phone • A plant Operation Manager calling into the radio network to assess the scale of an incident The Alarm Control System (ACS) compliments the RBX +Plus by allowing workers to receive alarm notifications and transmit alarm triggers right from their MOTOTRBO radio. By working in conjunction with the Centralized Lone Worker (CLW) application, lone workers are pinged every so often to ensure that their well-being has not been compromised. Teldio’s Man Down Notifier also watches over remote and hazard-prone workers’ well-being by monitoring the radio’s accelerometer (motion sensor) for a lack of movement, a horizontal tilt, or both. To ensure the safety of workers without impeding on productivity, Teldio applications are reliable and intuitive. All Teldio applications can be coupled with the Indoor Positioning System (IPS). In cases of emergency, response teams and supervisors can be notified of the endangered worker’s last known location, resulting in swift, efficient, and highly reliable rescue and response efforts. Examples of use cases for Teldio safety and security applications include: • Engineers working alone with hazardous equipment are monitored using CLW to ensure their well-being every 45 minutes • Sawmill workers who do rounds in dangerous work environments are surveilled using MDN to alert teams should they succumb to an accident or fall unconscious • Security personnel are tracked by IPS. The nearest guard to an incident can be dispatched to decrease the response time and provide reliable emergency response

Because the safety and security of your workforce is a critical responsibility, digital radio applications monitor and surveil the well-being of your mobile and hazard-prone workers.

and, Because you look towards technology to increase plant productivity while ensuring the reliability of your processes. Communication is critical. Information transfer is both crucial for efficient operational processes and functional plant procedures. Teldio applications enhance the value of a MOTOTRBO radio network in two significant ways: by ensuring radio users are connected to the outside world, and by sending and receiving data that enable workers to do more with their radio. Radio communications are streamlined with Teldio’s RBX +Plus, an application for two-way radio telephony. Digital radios can now communicate seamlessly with phones while having similar functionality found on a cellular device. RBX +Plus leverages the existing radio and telephony infrastructure in a new way by giving radio users the ability to do more with their MOTOTRBO radio. Common use cases include: • Placing and receiving calls to customers / suppliers directly from a radio • Direct extension dialling to PBX desk phones from a radio • Calling into an overhead pager from a radio • Extension twinning so that both desk phones and radios receive the same calls • Supervisors / Managers dialing into radio talkgroups from any phone, from anywhere • After-hours call forwarding to security guard radios

The data transmitted to and from a radio can significantly increase the level of efficiency and productivity on the manufacturing plant’s floor. The Alarm Control System (ACS) ensures that alarm management and notification processes are automatic, efficient and reliable. This application automatically dispatches safety and business critical alarms to the right person based on the time of day and the competency necessary to respond to the alarm. Alarm notifications can be sent to multiple devices, including MOTOTRBO radios and smart phones, and can also be generated manually for quick task allocation. As a result, when an alarm is raised ACS immediately identifies the available employee responsible and escalates the alarm until it is acknowledged, resolved and closed. Popular use cases are: • Generating manual work tickets • Receiving automated alarm notification from refrigeration units and programmable logic controllers, for example • Tracking inventory levels • Monitoring for fire alarms • Surveilling for security breaches

Because you would look to increase the productivity of your workers and ensure the reliability of your operational processes, provide workers with Teldio digital mobile applications to simply do more with their MOTOTRBO radio.

Unified Communication Solution

Radio to Radio Recording

Intelligent Alarm Notification

Digital radios can now communicate seamlessly with phones while having similar functionality found on a cellular device. RBX +Plus leverages existing radio and telephony infrastructure in a new way by giving customers the ability to truly control their mobile communications costs while providing remote workers with continuous connectivity. For example, RBX +Plus enables workers to dial 911 directly from their MOTOTRBO radios, and allows supervisors to dial into a radio network’s talkgroup directly from a phone. Managers can also easily reach their supervisors directly on their radio to speak privately. The flexibility that the RBX +Plus provides to the communication networks ensures that workers are always connected and that they can do more with their radios.

The Teldio recording solution enables network administrators to record, log and playback any group call on MOTOTRBO two-way radio networks of any configuration. This solution allows users to record both Radio-to Radio and Phone-to-Radio conversations, making it easy to use revert back to the communication data for hands-on training exercises. R2R has also proven useful by enhancing audit trails with audiodata of radio to radio and phone to radio communications, and by increasing the accountability of workers with the review of the recorded data.

Alarm Control System (ACS) can drastically raise the level of efficiency and safety in the workplace. It automatically dispatches safety and business critical alarms to MOTOTRBO digital radios and other mobile devices. This application provides the assurance that if an alarm is raised or a task created, ACS will immediately identify the available responsible employee based on schedule and competency, and escalate the alarm or task until it is acknowledged, resolved and closed. If a front line worker was to miss or ignore a notification, the next person in line best equipped to respond to the call would be notified and the alarm appropriately escalated until acknowledged. ACS is powerful in any manufacturing setting as it streamlines the response line between alarm activation and reliable response.

Centralized Lone Worker

Man Down Notifier

Indoor Positioning Solution (IPS) allows organizations to locate and track employees and assets using any Bluetooth device including MOTOTRBO radios equipped with a Bluetooth Adapter. IPS provides real-time location data of radio and mobile phone users using strategically placed Bluetooth beacons. IPS can be used in conjunction with ACS to trigger an alarm notification if a worker or asset enters or leaves predefined zones. It also complements CLW to provide location data of a worker in distress, as signaled by a panic alarm or non-response to an alive check. In large manufacturing installations, IPS proves itself as a useful and reliable tool to reduce time inefficiencies and provide rich location-based data of remote workers.

The Centralized Lone Worker (CLW) module raises an alarm whenever a radio or mobile phone user does not respond to a regular safety check. These are sent automatically by the application at predefined time intervals. If an employee fails to respond to the alive check request within the allocated time frame, an emergency alarm is immediately raised to supervisors and/or response teams. Employees completing dangerous tasks in the plant facility or in the loading dock, for example, now have the extra assurance that someone is looking out for their well-being. Supervisors will have the peace of mind that their employees are being monitored, wherever they may be.

The Man Down Notifier (MDN) application monitors workers to identify if they have suffered a fall or accident. It does so by surveilling the radio’s accelerometer for a lack of movement, a horizontal tilt, or both. Its rich functionality, including calibration and prealarm configurable parameters, significantly reduce the number of false alarms. When triggered, MDN automatically dispatches a notification to the appropriate response group or individual by utilizing the ACS application platform.

Practical Use Case. incident

Incidents do occur and the best way to prepare for them is to have the proper communication and response processes in place. Imagine a fire were to break out in a manufacturing plant’s isolated warehouse. The building’s monitoring system would trigger an alarm. This information would be instantly captured by the ACS.

notification

As ACS captures the information it recognizes the type of alarm triggered. The application can transform the alarm notification to speech and broadcast an emergency message to all radios on the network. The application also detects the employee who is best able to resolve the alarm and sends to this person an alarm notification. Alarm notifications can be sent to workers on-site via their MOTOTRBO radio, or off-site via their mobile device or e-mail. In the case of the fire in the warehouse, the Fire Marshall is instructed to evacuate the building. He receives the emergency notification on his MOTOTRBO radio, and accepts the lead on the evacuation process.

6

response

In the case of the warehouse fire, IPS is used to determine which workers are still in the affected evacuation zone. By using location-data, the whereabouts of employees can be verified to ensure no one is left behind. Employees who remain in the danger zone enable CLW and MDN. These applications monitor their safety as the situation progresses. The Fire Marshall can easily communicate with Emergency Fire Teams via his RBX +Plus enabled MOTOTRBO radio. He can easily call out to external numbers, and can always be reached on his radio.

resolution

With the fire under control and all employees evacuated safely, the situation is now contained. Authorities arrive promptly to contain the damage. Now that the emergency has been resolved the Fire Marshall closes the alarm. The Fire Marshall notifies head office that the situation is resolved by calling out to the security desk.He also notifies offsite managers that the situation is resolved. And in case he decides to survey the area, his radio is twinned regardless of his location.

evaluation

The Fire Marshall and the Operations Director playback all talkgroup conversations and the 911 call completed during the incident. They are able to conclude a full audit of the event by using user actions that are time-stamped appropriately. They also evaluate the response times by referring to the ACS alarm log report. By having the information at their fingertips, they are then able to revise their operational processes to learn from their experiences.
