Sports Editor Darren Vaughan is a graduate of Southern Utah University, and a native of Moab, Utah. In 2008 he became sports editor of The Daily Times in Farmington, N.M., and was hired as assistant sports editor at the Valley Press in 2010. Vaughan was instrumental in backto-back honors for Best Sports Section from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, and helped lead the Valley Press sports section to consecutive Top 10 awards from Associated Press Sports Editors.

Alonso is a graduate of California State University Northridge where he received his B.A. in Journalism. He served as Sports Assistant/Freelance Reporter and Sports Blogger for the L.A. Daily News, Freelance Sports Reporter for the Bakersfield Californian, News Writer for Hoopvile.com, and Sports Editor for CSUN’s Daily Sundial where he received the award for “Outstanding Editor” in 2008. In 2011 he was awarded First Place, Best Headline Portfolio, by the California College Media Association.

Brian Golden | Award-winning columnist [email protected] Brian Golden has written columns and sports stories for the Antelope Valley Press for more than 25 years, a career that has seen him honored multiple times by the Associated Press Sports Editors as a top-10 sports columnist for small newspapers. He has covered all of the championships for the four major sports, including more than 20 Super Bowls. In 2000, he was named the best sports columnist in Los Angeles.
