evolUTion oF THe HelmeT The Temple “T” once again adorns the football team’s helmets, beginning in 2011. The helmet features a white “T” and a white face mask on a cherry shell. The helmet is strikingly similar to the one the team wore from 1989-95 and 2004-06, except there is no longer a white stripe down the middle. The true shade of the “Temple cherry red” color was adopted by the department of athletics in 1996. For 30 straight seasons, from 1966 to 1995, the owls’ helmets consisted of cherry shells. Temple switched to a white shell in 1996, sporting a helmet adorned with the flying “dominant owl” logo and featuring a black face mask. The program has worn helmets featuring both white and cherry shells with various stripes, lettering, face masks and logos since its inaugural season in 1894.

The Temple football team boasts the ability to go an entire season without wearing the same uniform. With two different helmet colors, three jerseys and three sets of pants, the Owls can don their Cherry and White colors in at least 18 combinations. That doesn’t even take into account three different helmet stickers and various sock patterns, virtually allowing the Owls to wear something new and fresh each game.

evolUTion oF THe HelmeT The Temple “T” once again adorns the football team’s helmets, beginning in 2011. The helmet features a white “T” and a white face mask on a cherry shell. The helmet is strikingly similar to the one the team wore from 1989-95 and 2004-06, except there is no longer a white stripe down the middle. The true shade of the “Temple cherry red” color was adopted by the department of athletics in 1996. For 30 straight seasons, from 1966 to 1995, the owls’ helmets consisted of cherry shells. Temple switched to a white shell in 1996, sporting a helmet adorned with the flying “dominant owl” logo and featuring a black face mask. The program has worn helmets featuring both white and cherry shells with various stripes, lettering, face masks and logos since its inaugural season in 1894.

The Temple football team boasts the ability to go an entire season without wearing the same uniform. With two different helmet colors, three jerseys and three sets of pants, the Owls can don their Cherry and White colors in at least 18 combinations. That doesn’t even take into account three different helmet stickers and various sock patterns, virtually allowing the Owls to wear something new and fresh each game.
