BRADLEY (1-1, 0-0 MVC)
u ITA Rankings
TYLER’S MILESTONES
Individual rankings will be released Febraury 7
th
u 2018 Championship
Now in his fifth year as Bradley head coach, Matt Tyler took over sole possession of second place on the program’s all-time wins list with his 41st career dual match victory Saturday, a 6-1 triumph against Northern Illinois ... The 11th coach in the program’s 41-year history, Tyler trails only Barb Nicoll, who won 103 matches from 1984-95, on the program’s all-time wins list ... Tyler will coach his 100th dual match at the Bradley helm Saturday when the Braves visit Big 10 Conference foe Wisconsin.
FRESHMEN IMPACT
Six of Bradley’s 11 individual match wins during the opening weekend involved the team’s three freshmen ... Playing at No. 1 singles and doubles, freshman Sandra Maletin (Belgrade, Serbia) delivered three of those wins, including a sweep of her two singles matches ... Freshman Victoria Gonzalez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) split her two singles matches in the No. 5 position ... A mid-year enrollee, freshman Kinga Kovacs (Pecs, Hungary) benefitted from Northern Illinois’ depleted roster for a pair of default wins at No. 3 doubles with Gonzalez and No. 6 singles Saturday against the Huskies ... Including the fall tournament season, Gonzalez shares (Malini Wijesinghe) the team lead with seven singles wins this year.
SECOND WIN AGAINST THE HUSKIES
With its 6-1 win Saturday against Northern Illinois, Bradley improved to 2-17 all-time against the Huskies ... After losing the first 16 dual matches in the series, Bradley now has won two of the last three meetings, both at the Clubs at River City.
April 27-29, 2018 Springfield, Mo. Hosted by Missouri State
B1G TRIP
When Bradley visits Wisconsin Saturday, the Braves will be facing a Big 10 Conference opponent for the third straight season (at Iowa Feb. 27, 2016 and a neutral-site match vs. Rutgers March 14, 2017) ... Prior to that 2016 visit to Iowa, Bradley had not faced a Big 10 opponent in a dual match since a 9-0 home loss against Wisconsin March 2, 1997 ... The Braves are 0-8 all-time against the Big 10. 2018 Bradley Braves Schedule Date Opponent

Saturday’s match against Hope College was a special one for senior Erin Staal, who received the opportunity to play in front of numerous friends and family members. Hope is located in Holland, Mich. near Staal’s hometown of Grand Haven. Staal, the lone senior on this year’s Valpo team, teamed up with Meg Modesto to win 9-7 at No. 3 doubles before falling in a tight singles match that went to three sets.

BUTLER WEEK
Whenever it’s Valpo against Butler in any sport, it’s a little extra special. The Bulldogs and Crusaders play for the Hoosier Helmet as part of a longstanding football rivalry and have history on the basketball court during their shared Horizon League affiliation. That rivalry will take to the tennis courts this week as the Crusaders play Butler on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT in Indianapolis. This will mark the first meeting in women’s tennis since 201112, the last year both schools were part of the Horizon League.
