PUBLIC LOCATIONS - HOW IT WORKS

TerraCycle has introduced public collection locations in the UK. This model allows locations to become listed on the Brigade page as a public collection location and to drive larger, more costefficient shipments. It also gives whole communities access to recycling of certain types of waste they wouldn’t otherwise. The effect: A Measurable difference between public and private Brigade locations. The average shipment size received from public coffee packaging in the UK has increased 3x Webpage Example Interactive map
Users have the option of searching for the nearest public location, or submitting an application to be a public collection location themselves.
Collectors can pin point their nearest location. The listing displays information such as address, opening hours and the charity they are collecting for.

Who Benefits from the Funds Raised?
Easily accessible to the public. A location that the public already interacts with / goes to. Offers good public access to the collection box • At least 5 days (plus weekend access preferable). • Evening access would also be a bonus (not essential though). Good locations include: • Supermarkets • Independent retailers • Coffee shops / cafes • Charity Shops • Council buildings • Community Centre's • Libraries
The administrator finds the location, maintains the collection box and sends the shipments in to TerraCycle so they decide on the school, charity or non-profit that benefits.

Schools are not the right location due to access issues • a parent or teacher however can find an alternative location, act as the administrator and choose their school / nursery as the beneficiary
The money can also be split 50/50 between say an administrators chosen charity and that of the locations chosen charity.

Nurseries are not the right location for coffee waste for example but they work well for the two baby related programmes in baby wipes packaging and baby food

For the Brigades you are interested in go to the Brigade page and check using the pictured ‘Find My Nearest Location’ button and post code search facility that you don’t already have a drop off location in place locally If there is one in place in your area then please use it. We only want one per community.
If there isn’t one or there is one but a few miles away then try and find a suitable location as outlined on slide 5. Once you have found a suitable location and the decision maker for the location agrees to act as the drop off point – simply click on the pictured ‘Submit Application’ button and fill in all the details. TerraCycle will then review your application and speak to the location before coming back to you.
