Turkeys can run at speeds of up to 24 miles per hour. They can fly as fast as 55 miles per hour. The first Thanksgiving celebration was held over a 3 day period. They ate lobster and other wild game. Sarah Josepha Hale convinced Abraham Lincoln to make Thanksgiving a national holiday. She is the author of “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Native American Indians raised turkeys for their feathers. Older turkeys have about 3,500 feathers.
