Focus on WMU Emphasis, February 9-15, 2015 Engage your church in missions discipleship by calling on them to Surrender, Sacrifice, and Serve! Suggested Theme: “All For You” Suggested Scripture: Mark 8:31 Interpretation of Theme: What does it mean to give ourselves fully to Christ? In other words, how can we look at God and declare, We desire to be All For You?” During this next year, men, women, boys and girls will learn three key aspects of discipleship:
Surrender completely by denying self
Sacrifice willingly by taking up their cross
Serve intentionally by following Christ into their community, state, and world.
As we are exploring these, age groups will learn how others are living this out in missions and be guided to live these out through mission projects. For more information and lots of ideas on mission projects, go to: www.wmu.com

Mark your calendar for the Vacation Bible School State Clinic Alpha Baptist Church Tuesday, February 17, 2015 Open house begins at 5:15, Supper at 5:30, will end at 8:45
On Saturday, March 7, we will be holding a National Sunday School Seminar at Mountain View Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN, from 8:30AM-3:30 PM. This seminar has had literally thousands of pastors, Sunday School Directors, and other leaders across the nation participate and has received some of the most positive feedback of any training LifeWay has done in the past 20 years. I want to invite you and your Sunday School Director to participate along with any of your Sunday School teachers. Additionally, the seminar will be great for churches doing Small Groups. During the seminar, in a very practical, interactive, hands-on way, we will deal with: Instilling a sense of purpose and mission in your Sunday School/small groups, practical steps for growing your Sunday School/small groups, developing teaching that leads to life changing. Building a strategy for your Sunday School/small groups. Your leaders will walk away with a library of materials that will serve as a resource after the seminar.
Make sure you know the date for the Missions Get-together & Connection, March 20-22, 2015. The Place is Gatlinburg Convention Center. Featured speakers are: Jean Robertson & Rachel Lovingood. Worship Leader is Paul Clark & the Tennessee Ladies Chorus. Full access registration Fee: $60.00 by March 2, and limited access Registration Fee: $20.00. For more information go to www.tnwmu.org
Children’s Ministry Day Each February, thousands of children across North America participate in the ministry projects on the same day: Children’s Ministry Day. From feeding hungry people to visiting shut-ins, girls and boys follow God’s command to “put your love into action” (1 John 3:18). Church groups create projects that meet needs in their own communities. WMU created Children’s Ministry Day to move children out of their churches and into their communities to do missions. The first Children’s Ministry Day was in 2008. Since 2008, more than 170,000 people have taken part in Children’s Ministry Day! WMU invites all children in grades 1-6 to participate. Visit the Children’s Ministry Day section of our site to learn more about this year’s emphasis. You can also read stories from past projects. If you have comments or questions, please email
[email protected]. We look forward to helping your children do hands-on ministry!

FROM YOUR ASSOCIATIONAL MISSIONARY: I will be very brief in this article. I just want to take a moment and thank all our churches who were able to move their
Sunday night services to be a part of our annual evangelism rally. They have all been great, but this last one seems to stand out to me. There was such a sweet spirit among all people and the singing, and preaching was wonderful. Thanks again to First Baptist Church of Dandridge for being such a gracious host. Dr. Willie McLaurin and Brother Bob Cates, being led by the Holy Spirit, made it an atmosphere for real worship. I am so humbled to be your associational missionary. Join the team, to tackle Hunger and Poverty! Souper Bowl of Caring is youth across the nation working to fight hunger and poverty in their own communities around the time of the Souper Bowl football game. In the weeks leading up to or on Souper Bowl Sunday, young people take up a collection (many use a soup pot), asking for one dollar or one item of food for people in need. They give 100% of their donation directly to the local hunger-relief charity of their choice.
