DELIGHTFUL UNITY The ugliness of disunity What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? James 4:1

Behold! The beauty of unity How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1

A blessing from above It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. Psalm 133:2

Set aside and wonderfully fragrant Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. Exodus 30:25

The grounds for unity Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being likeminded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

The hope of unity Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. Ephesians 4:3-4

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Hebrews 13:1

[Moses] poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him. Leviticus 8:12

A gift to the world My prayer is…that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:20-21

Unity is refreshing and life-giving It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. Psalm 133:3 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13 Ines Franklin • February 4, 2018 Listen: marinerschurch.org/ch-messages • Scripture from the NIV unless noted
