Located south of Denver along the I-25 urban corridor on the edge of the Great Plains and beneath the shadows of the Rockies, this 3,000-acre new town south of Denver will incorporate the latest in solar and wind technologies. Conceived as a ‘micro-grid’, The Canyons will endeavor to generate its own power on-site, while utilizing the existing canyons as a restored natural landscape framework of native prairie grasses, incorporating trails and restored wetlands. On the bluffs above, homes are set in dense clusters amidst native planting. A working farm provides produce for sale at the town market. SWA’s design is focused on providing a LEED-ND-oriented project.
