The Compassion of God 40 Days of Compassion, Part 1 Message by Tom Mercer September 16-17, 2017
Psalm 103:8-9
1. God’s compassion is unfair.
Psalm 103:10, Isaiah 14:14
A prideful spirit has always been the greatest obstacle to the Gospel.
Romans 3:10-18, 22-23
Since God’s compassion is unfair, we can expect to always be blessed beyond what we deserve.
2. God’s compassion is fatherly.
Psalm 103:11-14, Proverbs 9:10
To fear God The fundamental belief that God possesses an incomparable ability to protect and provide for you
Since God’s compassion is fatherly, we can be confident that we will always be told the truth, always be protected and provided for; yet we will not always get what we think we need.
3. God’s compassion is forever.
Psalm 103:15-17, Hebrews 11:39-40
Since God’s compassion is forever, God’s children may neither see much of anything truly resolved while we’re alive, nor be in much of a position to effectively evaluate His love until we die.
4. God’s compassion is focused.
Psalm 103:18
Since God’s compassion is focused, it won’t benefit us much until we put ourselves in a position to receive it.
