The Denison Family Taking the Gospel to Hispanics “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” Psalms 2:8 February 2016 2Tim 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” It was a wonderful privilege to serve the Lord in Aguascalientes, Mexico for almost twenty-one years! We praise the Lord that though He called us to leave, the works go on strong. We made a trip recently to Aguascalientes, with a two-fold purpose. First of all, we went to be present as the second church, La Iglesia Bautista de la Biblia Abierta, the Open Bible Baptist Church, voted Israel Villalobos in as pastor. One of the biggest concerns of a missionary leaving a church, is that the right manof God’s choosing be put in to take his place. Many a disaster has taken place when this does not happen. So much prayer and agonizing has gone into this decision. Of course, most missionaries, prefer that the national pastor be a man he has trained himself. The reason behind that is not egotistical but rather, knowing that the man taking charge of this church you have started from the ground up, baptizing many of the members and discipling them, would know and love the people the same way the missionary does. He would also continue the church in the same direction that the missionary who trained him took it in. Having said all that, the church voted in Israel Villalobos as pastor with a vote of 87%. I had the privilege of baptizing him and his wife then trained him in soul-winning, teaching and preaching. Teresa
Church in Mexico trained his wife in teaching Sunday School, in working with the ladies and with organization of materials of the church. Brother Israel has been interim pastor for the past year and has done a great job. He is a humble man with a godly discernment. They have done wonderful in their Vacation Bible Schools each year. The church is still very involved in missions and, this year in their annual missions conference took on two new missionaries. They now support thirteen Mexican missionaries going to various parts of the world. One of the new families, the Mendozas, are going to the Muslims in North Africa. It is so important that we pray for Israel and Gisela and their son Leo, as they continue the work that Teresa and I began, that many more will be saved, baptized and trained to do the same. No doubt Satan will fight them as he always does and especially knowing his time is short.
Israel won Joel to Christ, baptized him and is training him in preaching and soul-winning. Joel stepped out on faith and is helping Israel full time. He is over the youth now and really growing in the Lord. He now also heads up visitation and soul-winning and, preaches from time to time. The men continue taking turns preaching in the village church in San Jose de Gracia. Continue to pray for this church as they reach Aguascalientes and other parts of the world by Faith Promise Giving! Thank you much for your prayers and support!
