1. Think It: The Problem Pet Birds Flying Away Having a pet bird is great, until it flies away. A pet bird flying away is like happiness and money flying out the door. Your pet bird flying away is completely horrible because it makes you sad and discouraged, puts the bird in danger, and birds aren’t that cheap. When somebody’s pet bird flies away they feel sad and discouraged. My friend’s bird just flew away and he was devastated. When a pet bird flies away the owners think of themselves as irresponsible. They also lose a fun companion. Would you want to lose a friend? Then imagine the bird, in danger. It has to find food for the first time. Now that won’t be easy. Don’t forget, PREDATORS are waiting for food everywhere, owls, snakes, etc. Imagine surviving for just a few days. Don’t think birds cost just a few dollars. Just for the bird it’s around $80. Think about food and a cage. That proves that a bird flying away is expensive. Would you want to pay a lot every time your bird flies away? You can’t keep a bird locked up in a cage all day, because that’s just cruel. A bird needs freedom. You shouldn’t lock a bird up in a room because when you open the door. Whoosh, it flies right out and you can’t get it back in. When you’re having guests over, you let them in… and let the bird out. As I said before, your pet bird flying away is completely horrible because it makes you feel sad and discouraged, puts the bird in danger, birds aren’t cheap, and it’s hard to stop. If only there was a solution…

1a. Think It: My Solution The Feather Sensor If you’re reading this you might be getting a pet bird or you already have one. Did you ever think of how you will keep it from flying away? I know the answer to this problem! No more losses, no more electric fences! The Feather Sensor is fantastic because it will keep your bird inside without being cruel to it, it’s easy to set up, and it will keep your bird from getting hurt outside. It uses ranged magnetism to keep birds away from the door and the dangers of the world. It doesn’t only sense feathers, it with save them too. The Feather Sensor keeps your bird inside without being cruel to it by using magnetism to keep it inside your house instead of using electricity to shock the bird, because the shock can hurt it. It won’t lock your bird in a room or cage. The bird can fly all around your house without escaping! It’s easy to set up because all you have to do is take the 4 magnetic sensors and screw or nail them 2 feet away from the door, in all four corners. They have to be outside. Don’t worry about rain because the feather sensor is made with aluminum so it won’t rust. It’s made so you won’t have to take forever to set it up, instead it will only take a few minutes! It will keep your bird inside your house instead of outside in the wilderness by using sensors to detect the bird so it can use magnetism to keep it in. Outside there are predators so it could be eaten. They could even starve. With the Feather Sensor, none of this will happen! No death for your bird, just freedom of the house.

Now that you know the best way to keep your bird inside your house, why don’t you give it a try? You know why it’s so good. It can take triple A batteries to keep it small so it won’t be in your way. The Feather Sensor is fantastic because it will keep your bird inside without being cruel to it, it’s easy to set up, it will keep your bird from the dangerous outside, it’s durable, and it won’t be in the way.

2. Explore It: How Others Tried to Solve This Problem

I may be the only person to make this invention, but others have tried to solve this problem. Many people just lock their birds in a cage, but that’s cruel. Some of the ways that people have tried to solve how to keep their bird in their house are and were:  They barely open their doors: inconvenient  They keep their bird in one room: the bird can’t fly around much  They get electric fences: can hurt the bird  A cage: cruel, and the bird can’t fly in one Don’t use those horrible methods, use the Feather Sensor, the convenient, small, and easy to set up bird saver to keep your bird in your house. Give the bird freedom of the house. Remember, it won’t only sense feathers, it will save them too. Get yours now!

4. Create It: My Prototype How I Built the Prototype Feather Sensor I made my prototype to scale use a perfectly sized lacrosse ball, some magnets, and some cardboard.  I used the card board for the platform and supports  I used the lacrosse ball for the magnet holding ball  I used the magnets as the long ranged retracting magnets I made it to perfect size to show how it really would be and to give people an understanding of it. Everyone knows the best way to convey something is to make it to perfection.

5. Try it: My Results

How It Works My invention works by using ranged magnetism to push a bird back into the house (the bird needs the special collar). It has supports so it won’t fall over because magnetism goes both ways. When I tested it, it fell over because it wasn’t supported enough. So I gave it extra supports on the way it was falling.

6. Tweak It: How I can Improve my Prototype Everything can be improved, even an invention. The Feather Sensor can be improved by: 

Making it even smaller

Making an on-the-wall on-off switch

Not force non-bird objects away accidentally

Not sometimes pull the bird towards it

There are probably other ways to improve it, so I hope I can tweak the Feather Sensor to perfection.
