After the Fall of Man The spirit of man died:
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death.”
Genesis 2:17 “but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
When you are born again God gives you a new spirit:
1 Corinthians 15:21 “For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” Ezekiel 11:19a I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them”

John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”
Romans 8: 6-8 6The mind of sinful (carnal) man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful (carnal) mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful (flesh) nature cannot please God.

Romans 8: 8 6The mind of sinful man[a] is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind[b] is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
Those controlled by the sinful (flesh) nature cannot please God. 8
Characteristics of a carnal believer? This person remains as “babes” for a
long period of time This person is unfit to absorb spiritual teaching This person lives a”double” life This person behaves like an unbeliever This person does not bear the fruit of the Spirit
A Christian results in a changed life Old Self
New Self Galatians 5:22-23
Galatians 5:19-21 19
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this
not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and selfcontrol. Against such things there is no law.
You were … 1Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV) 9
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
So why does a Christian continue to sin after they are saved?
Our reason is always immediate gratification and selfish motivation.
What we lack today is not better living, but better dying.
1John 5:18
“Anyone born of God does not continue to sin.” This does not mean that Christians cannot sin, it means that if we obey the life of God in us, we need not sin.
1 John 1:9 (Amplified Bible) If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
