THE FOOD BAG THE YEAR IN REVIEW

In 2016 we distributed 1,112,000 pounds of food to low-income people of Mendocino County. Of that, 822,000 pounds were distributed directly to our local coastal community members from the Food Bank warehouse on N Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. We delivered the remainder to small food pantries and soup kitchens county-wide to serve to their own community members. At the Fort Bragg Food Bank we provided food to approximately 856 client households with 1,475 household members – every month. Each of these clients could pick up food once every week. ALL WELCOME! We know that some folks may be hesitant to come to the Food Bank - and it does take a bit of courage for your first visit. We hope you will find, as we have, that the folks who choose to work here are here because we believe in the service we provide to our fellow community members. We understand that we, too, are a pink slip or an illness away from needing the Food Bank’s services ourselves. In fact, many of us are or have been Food Bank clients, or have family members that are clients. We welcome you. This is your Food Bank. A SPECIAL TIME FOR SENIORS We have a special time for Seniors to pick up their food on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10:45 – 11:15. This food distribution line is quieter and the waiting times are shorter. AFTER-HOURS DISTRIBUTION For people who may not be able to get to the Food Bank in the middle of the day, we have a late distribution on Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Lines are short and service is fast. This might work well for people who work until 5 pm.

We are privileged to serve all who come to our door with respect, consideration and without judgment.

Our 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Lunch

THESE ARE OUR HEROES! This gang of warm-hearted, active people makes the Food Bank run! Every year we attempt to pour a year’s worth of appreciation into our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch where we share hugs, laughs and ….cake! We have lots of fun and share a great meal – but it is truly inadequate to express our appreciation for what these folks do for the Food Bank and for their community.

If you have much, give of your
