Over the last two weeks we have painted the clubhouse inside and out, painted the sight screens, tidied the ground and cleared out both the bar and kitchen.
The ground looks spectacular and we have a new boundary rope!
We have a new fridgefreezer, dishwasher and flagpole. We are pleased to welcome Adnams as our

agers, coaches, captains and a variety of other roles. We have 800+ people on our database, including 300 youngsters. This is not a small club and our move towards charitable status is vital if we are to secure our future both in terms of good governance and, of course, financially. Simon hit Bertie with a 6 but all was well!
Summer programme 2014 Commencing Sunday 27 April
We welcome back Niraj Odedra from India who will be joined by Andrew Winton from Perth, Australia. They will join our team of very experienced lead coaches—Steve Atherton, Kevin Duers, Mark Hughes, Steve Oakey, Nigel Tegg and Tony Wiseman. We say farewell to Alan Williams who is taking a break after 7 years of loyal service. Players should turn up in good time, bring a cap and a drink! Remember that on a Friday the bar is open and Sunday morning we have a breakfast cafe.

Where are they now? Malcolm White, former Town Clerk, returns to the club as Liaison Officer for former players . His task is to answer the question “Where are they now?”! Malcolm joined the club in 1972. He made his name in 1974 when he hit a spectacular (his word!) 58 for the 2nd XI against Stortford Ramblers. He became Team Secretary in 1975. In those days, the men played the ladies and in the 1977 match he was caught by his wife , Katy—another club stalwart .
After a difficult year last year we are pleased to announce that Gray Palmer, supported by Mango Star (both local companies), will be stocking our kit range for 2014. You will be able to buy shirts, caps, jumpers, skorts and ties in store or online.
Club Buzz The countdown is on for the launch of Club Buzz, a more efficient way of communicating with members. The launch date is Sunday 27 April. In time it will enable online payments and allow you to update your details. Look out for further instructions. AAPF on Registration Day 2013
Cricket week Cricket Week was a strong feature of the club calendar until the late 80s. This year we are re-instating it with fixtures for both seniors and juniors. The Gents of Essex will be a highlight as will the Forty Club who will play a representative Academy side for the third year in succession. The Nondescripts also re-appear—a team made up of local village players. Let us know if you would like to play.

Scorers wanted We have almost no regular scorers in the club with the notable exception of 1st XI scorer, Chris Larlham. Experience is not essential as training can be given. Expenses are covered, teas are provided. The role would suit someone who enjoys getting out and watching cricket. Please contact David Barrs urgently
