Opening speech: “My job is to help you. I can’t help you when we are fighting and I feel bad that I’m being paid to do a job when I’m not able to do it properly. It isn’t fair on you and it isn’t fair on your parents – we’re all losing at the moment. I know each of you wants to succeed in life and be happy deep down and what I would like to happen is that our sessions together enable to you to gain something positive.”

Explain that the session will be about their opinions and their views in order to make the lesson more beneficial to them. “This is your opportunity to tell me what you want from our lessons and our time together.” 2. Get their feedback – could write answers in groups or as a discussion “We’ll take your answers away and put them into a ‘fresh start plan’ next lesson” • • • •

3. Go through the current rules explaining the reasons for each one, why they are necessary for the good of all, and discuss the consequences of rule breaking.
