The revolutionary Air 9 RDO is hands down the best 29-inch hardtail Niner has built to date. With redefined geometrics and a specially designed carbon frame, the Air 9 RDO makes an ideal alternative to full suspension mountain bikes. Whether you’re a professional racer or a weekend thrillseeker, your next ride just got better with the Air 9 RDO. Niner started out as a niche brand in the industry. Before the onset of 29ers, bikers were riding on 26-inch wheels for what was believed to be optimal speed and handling. But when CEO Chris Sugai hit the trails on his first 29-inch wheel, his perception of mountain biking changed. Popular bike manufacturers weren’t developing high-end 29ers in 2005. It was the Niner brand that made bikes with 29-inch wheels the best in class, eventually leading to the larger wheel size becoming the industry standard. Niner bikes are now found throughout the worlds of gravel and dirt, accompanied by their brand motto: “Pedal Damn It!”

The Air 9 RDO frame is composed of Niner’s own Carbon Compaction System. It works by wrapping carbon around an EPS foam internal mandrel and setting the entire system into a mould. The process allows Niner to control wall thickness and eject excessive resin. The result? A 10 per cent reduction in weight and an exceptionally strong frame. Manoeuver better on trail with the Air 9 RDO’s altered geometry. Niner shortened up the chainstay and strengthened the wheels, making it easier to handle during ascent and descent — one of the main differences between a full suspension bike and hardtail like Air 9 RDO. While it was designed to be an aggressive racing bike, Niner made it compatible for leisure riders as well. It’s optimised for 120mm and 100mm forks to accommodate every type of rider on their next mountain biking adventure. See, that extra three inches really does make a difference. No matter what your ex said.
