Scripture Reference 2 Kings 21:2-15 The Lord said through His servants the prophets: “Manasseh king of Judah has committed these detestable sins. He had done more evil than the Amorites who preceded him and had led Judah into sin with is idols...I will forsake the remnant of My inheritance and hand them over to their enemies. They will be looted and plundered by all their foes because they have done evil in My eyes and have provoked Me to anger from the day their forefathers came out of Egypt until this day.” 2 Kings 21:19-22
The Life of David “LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY”
2 Kings 22 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. 2 Kings 23:31-35 2 Kings 23:36-24:4 Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command, in order to remove them from His presence because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done… 2 Kings 24:8-17 2 Kings 24:18-20 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end He thrust them from His presence. David was mentioned in 7 King’s descriptions.
Although God chose to scatter the nation of Judah, He kept His promise to David that his throne would be established forever through Jesus Christ. “In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David…. (Gabriel said to her), “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of his father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; His kingdom will never end.” – Luke 1: 26-27, 32-33

God established a covenant with David, promising to establish his throne forever. 2 Samuel 7:8-16 “Now then, tell My servant David, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock to be ruler over My people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth. And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD declares to you that the LORD Himself will establish a house for you: When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for My Name, and I will established the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be His father, and he will be My son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men. But My love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before Me; your throne will be established forever.”

The LORD became angry with Solomon’s disobedience I Kings 11:9-13 The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, Who had appeared to him twice. Although He had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command. So the LORD said to Solomon: “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept My covenant and My decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”

Scripture Reference 2 Kings 8:18-19 He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever. 2 Kings 8:27
2 Kings 11
2 Kings 12:2-3
2 Kings 14:3-4 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash. The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices to burn incense there. 2 Kings 15:3-4 2 Kings 15:34-35 2 Kings 16:2-4 Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God. He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his own son in the fire, following detestable ways of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree. 2 Kings 18:3-8 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord just as his father David had done. He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones, and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it.
