Appointment of Development Executive - Communications Background Information
Overview Suffolk Community Foundation was established in 2005 and is celebrating its 10th anniversary during 2015. Over the past decade the Foundation has built an investment fund of £10 million and distributed over £11.5 million in grant aid to support the work of Suffolk’s charitable and voluntary sector. We believe there is a real opportunity to expand the Foundation’s activities particularly with existing and potential new supporters through increased marketing and communication activity. To achieve this we are looking to recruit a communication professional who can support our Development Director with this ambition. You will play your part in identifying and communicating the challenges and opportunities our County has and the steps philanthropists and civil society can take to respond to them, and to share more of the community knowledge generated through our grant-making. Our website has lots of information about our work and us and can be found at www.suffolkcf.org.uk
The role The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of tasks: PR and communications; marketing for the Foundation’s products, services and expertise; and soliciting and stewarding gifts. The work will bring you in touch with inspiring people from all walks of life: those working in local projects, high-networth individuals, business and civic leaders and peers from around the UK and beyond. We anticipate applicants will come from backgrounds in public relations, marketing, sales or fundraising, but overall we are looking for someone who is a creative thinker who can be passionate about community as a cause, professional in providing excellent customer service and proactive and committed to telling our stories to the wider world. The role covers communication with our range of audiences, from new and existing donors, to potential grant recipients, to a wider public whom we wish to engage in our work through our annual review and other initiatives. The post-holder will be expected to produce and/or project manage the creation of multi-media content for publication and have a strong practical knowledge of how best to reach target audiences in print and online. An in-depth understanding of the Salesforce CRM system is desirable. Supporting and, at times, creating and delivering events that work as well for community groups as they do for high-net-worth individuals and civic leaders is also an important element of the role as is soliciting and stewarding gifts and nurturing philanthropy.
