Chicago Housing Authority 104 Apartments + 1 Mgmt. Unit 10 Stories 118,500 GSF Original Construction 1923 Original Architect Leo Steif The redevelopment of the limestone and terra-cotta clad building to affordable apartments for active seniors centered upon providing a strong residential character and integral connection to the neighborhood. Dwellings with maxiumum accessibility and efficiency in their layouts, interactive commons areas, and extensive interior day-lighting were key design objectives. A full exterior restoration included window replacement, replication of missing terra cotta cornice features, and a new Kenmore Avenue entry. A newly built first floor structure and elevator core create nearly 4,000 sq. ft. of accessible flexible outdoor space including a central landscaped courtyard and rooftop terrace. The Richard H.
