The Power of Righteousness My objective of this lesson is to look at the gift of righteousness and the power of righteousness that causes us to reign in life. Once we understand this biblical truth, we will live the best life on this earth Romans 5:17-18 (1) What is righteousness? Righteousness is the ability to stand in the presence of God without sin, guilt or shame. It is a place of right standing. It is the life and nature of God. Ephesians 2:1-4; II Corinthians 5:17-20; Philippians 3:8-9; Romans 10:1-9
(2) There is a relationship between our actions and our right standing with God, but right relationship with God produces actions, not the other way around. That is to say, we are not made righteous by what we do. (3) Actions cannot change our hearts. It’s the heart of man that God looks upon. Romans 11:6; I Samuel 16:7-8 (4) It’s the Gospel that contains the power of God to change man’s heart; the laws only affect man’s actions. Romans 1:16-18 WHAT NOW: However, as we have said; the righteousness of God is a kind of righteousness that far exceeds the attempts of the human being to act according to conscience. Therefore, seeking God’s Kingdom and His righteousness is the first duty of every person. Start today walking in the righteousness of God by faith. MEMORY VERSE: Romans 5:17-18
