About The Project
What is The Project? The Project was first introduced in Melbourne in 2008, as a means of heightening creative interactivity between suppliers, retailers, designers and event-goers and is now one of the most highly anticipated features of Singapore Indesign. The Project showcases product in new and conceptual ways and gives Singapore Indesign visitors an eye-popping in-showroom experience. The Project is an opportunity for architects, designers and other creatives in the community to work with exhibiting companies and their products. Creating installations, visual displays and interactive experiences within showroom spaces, the teams respond to a brief provided by Singapore Indesign - the results reflecting the values of all parties involved. We encourage Exhibitors and creative partners to see The Project as an opportunity to think outside the box and push creative limits, and to present a truly inspiring experience for the thousands of visitors that the event attracts.
Who is it for? The Project is not compulsory but is a fantastic opportunity, open to all exhibitors participating in Singapore Indesign. Creative partners can be an individual designer or a design team from the architectural and design community or beyond, including architects, interior designers, industrial designers, fashion, lighting, graphic design professionals or artists.

The Project
Brief We always set a keyword or theme that forms the brief and dictates the general concept of The Project installations. This year’s theme is:
FUTURE – If we were to see beyond today, what would we find? In The Project, we look at what is to come. The brief can be interpreted in any literal or conceptual form. We stress the importance of creating a personable and memorable experience with visitors through interaction and engagement with aspects of the installation.
Budget • C ompany/Showroom to provide necessary product we advise a maximum of $2,000 for material costs/build/logistics. • Designer/Team to provide expertise and design time free of charge to achieve a mutually rewarding outcome.
Making it work We urge you to see The Project as an opportunity to push your creative limits. The end result should adequately reflect the values of the parties involved whilst demonstrating a collaborative approach to creativity. To ensure your project partner’s installation or concept adequately represents your brand, we suggest you put together a more detailed brief integrated both parties aims and objectives. You can then incorporate overall concepts or additional themes you wish to showcase on the day. Consider addressing the following in your brief: • What space do you have to work with? Where is this located in the showroom, will you need to take into consideration entry points, access, existing joinery, etc. • What do you need to highlight in The Project installation? Do you want to focus on a specific product, material, circulation in the showroom? • List the materials that both teams would like to use and the quantity you can are both able to supply them in. • Ensure that you both have an equal understanding from the outset about how the budget will be allocated and spent. • Set a detailed list of responsibilities so that you are both clear on who looks after which elements. Consider who orders materials and looks after logistics, set up and pack down times, etc. • Include both design and production deadlines
