The Resurrection Window: A Sermon in Light and Glass

The Resurrection Stained Glass Window, a focal point of the building, begins 35 feet above the chancel floor and rises another 35 feet, spanning a width of 100 feet. The window tells overarching biblical story from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. The window was designed and created by Judson Studios of Los Angeles, California. Tim Carey is the lead artist, with world-renowned glass artist Narcissus Quagliata consulting and providing artistic expertise on the project. Created as a triptych focused on three gardens - the Garden of Eden, the Garden of Redemption, and the Garden of Paradise Restored, the window has 161 panels that are 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The panels were created using thousands of individual pieces of painted, fused, etched and glazed glass. The characters in the window were chosen because of their lasting influence on the Christian faith or the pursuit of social justice, and how the character’s story reveals a key characteristic of the heart of God. The Church of the Resurrection congregation as well as sacred art patrons in the community and across the county made contributions in honor or memory of loved ones to create this work of art which will proclaim God’s story for generations to come.
