THE DEATH (vv. 33-41)

THE BURIAL (vv. 42-47)

THE TAKE AWAY In the death of King Jesus you see … In the death of King Jesus you feel … It is not easy studying the death of Jesus. But, in recording the gruesome account, Mark wasn’t trying to make it easy on you or me. Instead, he seems more interested in shouting out to us … Look! The Son of God died so that you might become sons & daughters of God. And while the death of Jesus is shocking, it is also the sacrifice that needed to happen in order for us to be granted the opportunity for salvation. Our goal today is to look long & hard at what Jesus went through for us. To have our hearts fill with genuine awe & appreciation for Christ because of the price He paid (on our behalf) to ransom us from sin and death. King Jesus died so that we might live forever. So while it may seem a bit unusual to be studying the death of Jesus with the Christmas season upon us, I pray it will cause each of us to say all the more... O Come Let us Adore Him

THE SCOURGING (v.15)

In the death of King Jesus you discover … In the death of King Jesus you hear the very first sounds of …

FOR THOUGHT & TALK In your small group take 5-10 minutes to review the main points of PJ’s message. Discuss the following questions, taking your time as the Spirit leads, realizing you don’t have to cover them all.

1. How can studying the death of Jesus help us adore Him all the more as we approach the Christmas season? What does it actually mean to adore Christ the Lord? Be specific, what are the attitude characteristics of someone who adores Jesus? What specific actions will be happening in a Christian’s life to indicate true adoration of Christ the Lord? 2. As PJ shared with us about the circumstances of Jesus’ death, what specific thing(s) most stood out to you from the story?

THE PRAETORIUM (vv. 16-20)

THE CRUCIFIXION (vv. 21-32)

3. While Scripture was being taught this past Sunday, did you realize that there were people sitting in the same room as you who were hearing these things for the first time? Who were putting all these truth together for the first time. Who are wrestling with faith and discovering faith. What is your personal responsibility to God when His Word is being taught? What is your responsibility to the others around you when His Word is being taught? 4. As we approach Christmas 2107 at NCFF this year, whom could you invite to join you at services over the Holidays? Please, write their names down; put those names where you’ll see them constantly; pray for them daily; invite them; bring them. 11.26.17 – 29th in a series of messages by Pastor John K. Nagle called The Mark of Christ: Discovering the Life That Matters. Check out the whole series on our website, ncffchurch.org.
