The staff and children wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Infant Info - Number 5 Dear Parents/Carers, Christmas is just such a special time for everyone but what a privilege it is to be in school running up to the 25th December. The school is bursting at the seams with excitement and joy, not to mention the glitter! My thanks go to Janet and Simon who do a grand job of cleaning up each day, removing glitter from the carpet is no mean feat! The Donkey Seller was truly delightful, thank you to the staff for your creativity and patience, thank you to the parents for providing the outfits and being a supportive audience but most all thank you to the children for your perseverance and enthusiasm to create a most enjoyable show. Thank you for the kind donations towards the Addenbrookes Neurosurgical Microscope appeal. We chose to support this charity in particular this year as Sil Clay our school cook was taken seriously ill in September with a brain tumour and such equipment would have helped with her treatment. We raised the fantastic amount of £516.32. Thank you again. The staff are exceptionally grateful for all the lovely cards, special messages and gifts they have received from the children, thank you. Thank you also for the donations to the food bank which I am sure will be appreciated by the families in most need this Christmas. I wish you and your families a fantastic time over the festive season.
School News Yellow Class spoke with their new teacher Miss Tiffany Martin over Skype and asked her many questions. The excitement from both parties was a delight to see. We look forward to meeting Tiffany in the flesh in January, and we are hoping that she brings some of that Australian weather with her. We have held 4 tours of the school for families whose children wish to start in September 2015 and these have been well received. As you walk around our school it gives you such a warm feeling inside and you can imagine the pride I felt when we received an email following the tour from a parent which said “I just wanted to say thank you for the open morning this morning, the school is really lovely, all the children looked so happy and the teachers seem very nice, it’s really reassuring for a parent!” Free school meals have been implemented for a full term now, this has been challenging for the school in terms of the management however the practice has been adapted along the way to ensure the experience and care for individuals is of a high standard. We are continuing to work with CCS to influence the menu choices available. We have worked with CCS on portion sizes which have been far too large for our children and can be off putting. Those children with dietary requirements along with Foundation Stage always go into lunch first. Those children requiring bespoke meals have a designated mid day supervisor who knows their requirements and ensures the correct meals are served. All children are expected to eat an appropriate amount and over the term the staff have a good understanding of individual needs and the care and guidance needed to make this happen. We can report that a very large majority of children are devouring the food on offer however there are some days which are clear favourites...good old fashioned roast! PTFA fundraising– Thank you to Felicity Wadrup and Rebecca Rix for organising a great Xmas event at The Crown. The event raised an amazing £387. Our thanks to The Crown for supporting the school too. The story telling area funded by the PTFA will be installed the first week in February weather permitting.
