We appreciate if all necessary supplies are purchased at Material Girls. A class discount of 10% will be given on all class purchase. All necessary supplies can be found at Material Girls unless otherwise noted on the supply list.
Finished Size: 39” x 48” Background Fabric: 1 1/3 yards Color A-Nine Patch Fabric: 1 1/4 yards Color B- Inner Border and M onkey Wrench: 1 1/2 yards Outer Border- (non-directional prints only): 1 1/2 yards Backing and Batting will be purchased once the quilt top is complete to ensure the correct amount is purchased based on the size of your quilt
Pattern: “Beginning Quilting by Machine” Loose-leaf notebook or folder to hold your pattern. You may also want to bring a few sheets of notebook paper and a pencil for taking any additional notes. Sewing Machine with a power cord, foot control, a walking foot, and 1/4” foot Rotary Cutting Supplies: Mat (at least 18”x24”) and rotary cutter (45mm in size) Rulers: Creative Grids (preferred but not required) at least 6”x24”, 6”x12”, and 12”x12” Basic Sewing Supplies: to include a Frixion pen or another pencil, glass head pins, tape measure, Hera Tool, and seam ripper 100% cotton 50wt. thread for construction in a neutral color 100% cotton 40wt. thread for quilting in a blending or contrasting color (can be purchased at a later date) New size 80/12 universal or microtex sharp sewing machine needle
This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabrics, to make your quilting journey a successful one. You must be comfortable with your sewing machine to take this class. You also must have a 1/4” foot for the machine before the second class. If you don’t already have one, we will help you determine which foot will fit your machine if you bring in the shank from your machine. Better yet, bring in the whole machine at least two weeks before the first class. If need be, we can order a foot for you. You will make a baby size quilt. All fabrics must be purchased from this store. We will start rotary cutting in the first class so you will not need to bring your machine to that class.
