The Village School Varsity Boy’s Soccer team won the TAPPS 4A State Championship Saturday, February 28 in Waco, TX. “This is a historic moment for our school. Before joining TAPPS our athletic department couldn’t compete for a state championship title. Now, we have advanced and won the 4A State Championship and it’s only our first year,” said Dustin Embry, Director of Athletics. The Vikings won the championship game in a 3-2 victory over Brook Hill. Joseph Juarez, the Varsity Boy’s Soccer Head Coach, is ecstatic about the recent accomplishment. The team won first in the district with a season of 14-2 and finished with an overall record of 22-3. “I am so proud of this group of young men. They worked hard every single day to bring home this title. It was a long season, but they never gave up,” said Juarez. Juarez became part of the Viking family this year. “It’s a great feeling, to be part of a successful franchise. I’m glad The Village School can showcase its athletic ability on a larger scale now that it is part of TAPPS,” said Juarez. “I can’t wait to see what we can bring to the table next year.”
