19th October 2015 Dear Parents / Carers, The newsletter is early this week as I am at PGL getting to know Year 6 better. It is a very energetic way to round off the half-term and I know the children will have a great time. I hope you enjoy the half-term break before the run up to you know what! Please return the brief survey at the end of this newsletter if it affects you.

Farewell Mr Dix I imagine that most of you will already have heard that Mr Dix will be leaving us at the end of this term. He has gained a promotion and will be moving to Forest Fields Primary and Nursery School. He has done a brilliant job in his 7½ years here and he will be sorely missed. I would like to thank Mr Dix for all the work he has done whilst at the school. Children love being in his class and he really is an inspirational teacher. Unfortunately for us he is at a stage in his career when it is right to move and we are proud of his achievement in gaining his new post. I know we will all miss him. Following interviews last week, I am pleased to inform you that we have appointed Mr Summersby who has been teaching for 5 years in London. We are very pleased with the appointment and feel sure that Mr Summersby will slot into our existing team perfectly.

Girls’ Football

The girls’ football team have been in action twice in the last couple of weeks, recording two victories, one in a friendly 3-1 and one against Crossdale Primary 3-0 in the County Cup. They play very well as a team, but all six goals were scored by one player! Well done to Eva and the team. 

Dukes Barn and PGL Meetings – Wednesday 4th November Introductory meetings for parents for Dukes Barn and PGL 2016 are on Wednesday 4th November. We would encourage you to attend as there will be lots of information to share. If you have another child who has been recently, you may opt not to come as you will know most of the information. Mr Simmonds will send home information and payment cards after the meetings. We appreciate that neither visit is cheap and we want to give you as long as possible to pay in instalments if you wish. We also want ALL the children to go, so if you think payment may be a problem, please do get in touch as we want to support wherever we can.

Change of date for next half term Tuesday 8th December Christmas Production at the Baptist Church

Getting to and from the Infant and Junior Schools with Young Children A small group of parents and governors from both schools are looking into some of the challenges surrounding getting children to both schools in the morning and collecting from both schools in the afternoon, especially in the light of our road safety issues. They are trying to decide if there is anything we can do to ease any current difficulties. This may include both schools looking at their start and finish times. To help them, they could do with some information from parents and we would be very grateful if you would complete the questions on the form below and return it to school by the end of this week. Obviously you only need to complete the form if you have children at both schools. Thanks in advance for your help with this. It’s only a very brief survey. Thanks again for taking time to read this newsletter and have a lovely half term. Yours sincerely, ----------------------------------------------------------------
