The Westlake Kiwanis Meeting Feb 24, 2015 There were 13  members and 2 guests present when President Russ Milan  opened the meeting at 7 P.M. at Buca de Beppo. Rick announced it's official there will be an Emily's Run in conjunction with our Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 19, 2015. The run will be setting up table and using part of the cafeteria during the breakfast. Rick also announced that the Relay for Life will be Saturday, May 30, 2015. It will be a one day event. Bob Clancy reported that Key Club will take part in the Holiday Concert and Senior Dinner at Westlake High School in April. Norm Resko reported that the Builders Club should be back up and running in March with a new Advisor Pam Dwyer.  Russ reported that he is meeting with the school district regarding having an advisor for the K‐Kids at Dover Intermediate. Vic reported that Aktion Club helped the West Park Kiwanis at their Spaghetti Dinner last Saturday. Tonights guest speaker was April Tracy Sales Manager for Buca de Beppo. April said the name roughly translated means Joe's Basement. Buca was started in 1993 in Minneapolis in an apartment building. There are now 92 Buca's around the country. Buca was purchased by Plant Hollywood and is part of their family. The Buca in Westlake where we meet was originally a restaurant named "Elzona" until becoming a Buca de Beppo. Buca is open for lunch and dinner. They have also several rooms for parties and meetings both large and small. April said they cater meals for schools, churches, businesses etc. So if you want to host a party or cater a function give April a call at 440‐356‐ 2276. April asked if anyone in the club was having a birthday and we said Alan Hendricks but we also mentioned that it was Kiwanis 100 Birthday this year. Well the next thing we knew the wait staff showed up with a beautiful cake and a lit candelabra to celebrate the birthdays. We sang Happy Birthday twice one the traditional way and once the Buca for both Alan and Kiwanis. Thanks April for an informative program and a great cake.
