6 Truths about the souls of all men revealed in this passage:
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-- by grace you have been saved-6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Eph 2:4-7 ESV) 1. List the phrases used to express God’s motive for saving us:
1. Man has a soul 2. The soul cannot be cleansed by religious rituals that center on the body 3. The soul of a man is self-defiling 4. The soul of man is responsible for all the wickedness in this life
2. List the verbs in verse 5:
Which verbs describe what God did to save us?
3. According to verse 6, where are we “seated?” What does this mean?
5. Man’s number one problem is his own soul, not things external to himself 6. Man is helpless in cleansing his own soul
