“I think Jahad is just trying to be great.' He’s just 100 percent all-in. Sometimes seniors are either thinking about their future - their friends, family, everyone is talking the future, the future, the future - and they forget about the present, they forget about their senior year, and it actually hurts, or they’re 1,000 percent bought into the team in their senior year and having fun with their teammates. And Jahad appears to be based upon his actions, to be 1,000 percent bought into having a great senior year with the way he has practiced, everything that he’s doing.” -- former head coach Matt Rhule, 8/19 “We are just trying to rotate them based on who is tired. I don’t want Jahad [Thomas] over 20 carries. Ideally I would like Ryquell [Armstead] at 12 or so carries and utilize Isaiah Wright at around seven carries. Also, if I can get Jagar [Gardner] going that would be amazing. He had a great first run 9 yards followed but a fumble. He is a good back, and we just need to get his confidence back. Jahad loses his effectiveness when he runs for over 21-22 carries. He gets tired. We have been using him a lot on third downs when he is catching and blocking. He is so smart and so competitive. He now is our punt returner. Last week he was our kick off returner. We are trying to utilize him and get him in space.” -- former head coach Matt Rhule on the use of his running backs, 10/4
