Timbie Update 9-11-15

Dear Team, Fourteen years ago today, Ambassadors and other world leaders were gathered in the United Nations for the International Prayer Breakfast when airplanes flew into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. It's not insignificant that the speaker's message that morning (without knowing what was happening just a few blocks away) was 3 possible responses to unprovoked attack: retaliate, ignore, or seek reconciliation. God chose the latter. This year's International Prayer Breakfast will be held this coming Tuesday, September 15, from 8:15am-9:45am. We are praying that it too, will be a significant time for those gathered as they are facing global problems of unprecedented proportion in this General Assembly year. We recently interviewed one of the Deputy Ambassadors who comes regularly to Christian Embassy events. We wanted to have some feedback from her about what we are doing well and what we could improve in order to better serve the diplomat community. She gave us a lot of helpful input, but one thing she said which stands out for us is that with all that they have to deal with in their jobs, with their colleagues, etc., that for her Christian Embassy is hallowed ground. It is a place to encounter God. We can't think of a more poignant request to ask you to pray for Tuesday's event than that God would anoint the Delegate's Dining Room to be hallowed ground. Oh that every world leader who enters, regardless of religious background, would encounter the true and living God. All the details of pulling off this massive event pale in importance in view of that request. But please do remember Larnelle Harris (our vocalist), Luis Palau (our speaker), and all the ambassadors who will be reading Scripture or praying; that God will fill their hearts and mouths with His message. Pray for our team as well, that as we tend to the gazillion things that need our attention that morning, we will operate in the Spirit, strengthen existing relationships, and develop some new ones. We love and appreciate you... David and Giselle
