Tom Warren Joins The Kennebec Valley YMCA As New CEO
AUGUSTA, Maine – The Kennebec Valley YMCA is happy to announce that it has hired Tom Warren as its new CEO. Board Chair Kat Beaudoin says, "Tom brings a lot of energy and passion for the Y with him that will be invaluable as we celebrate 100 years of service in our community, and the staff that have met him are very excited for him to join their team.” Harry Lanphear, a board member from the selec on commi ee says, “We are very happy to have Tom as our new CEO. Tom is an excep onal leader with more than 30 years of Y experience, and we are certain that he is the right person for the job.” Warren is a YMCA of the USA Cer fied Organiza onal Leader with 33 years of progressive leadership experience within three successful mul ‐branch associa ons. Most recently, he has served as Senior Execu ve at the Taunton, Massachuse s Old Colony YMCA—a full downtown mul ‐use facility with 35,000 square feet, a budget of $2.3 million, and staff consis ng of 12 full‐ me and 75 part‐ me employees. From 2007 to July 2012 Tom served as Senior Execu ve to the Brockton, Massachuse s Old Colony YMCA where he assumed leadership of two loca ons. The Brockton branch—a full downtown mul ‐use facility with 110,000 square feet, a budget of $2M, and a staff of ten full‐ me and 54 part‐ me employees. He also had concurrent responsibili es for the East Bridgewater loca on—a full facility with 47,000 square feet, 47 acres, a budget of $3.4M, and a staff of 17 full‐ me and 128 part‐ me employees. Warren, who earned a B.S. degree in Business Administra on from the University of Maine and an M.S. degree in Physical Educa on, Exercise Science, from Bridgewater State College, is eager to be back in Maine. During a mee ng with senior staff members at the Y last week he said, “I am excited to join such a strong community of members, staff, volunteers, and directors, and I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.” Jac Arbour, Board Vice Chair says, “We’re very proud of our Y. We have a great staff, modern facili es, and an amazing community of supporters who make sure that we are able to reach our charitable and program goals. Tom has the experience we need to con nue to grow within our community. This is a very exci ng me for all of us.” Warren is an cipated to start at the Kennebec Valley YMCA in mid‐January. Interim CEO, Bob Oickle, will con nue working with Warren, the board, and staff throughout the transi on.
