Dave Holcomb - NFL Fantasy Analysis

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Although NFL quarterback Brett Favre was born and went to school in the state of Mississippi, home for him has always been Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was, anyway, up until seven years ago. Favre announced his retirement after the 2007 season but changed his mind a few months later. That led to an ugly divorce, and Favre played his final three seasons in New York and Minnesota. The three-time MVP, however, walked onto Lambeau Field to the warmth of the home crowd for the first time in eight years on Saturday night. The awkward breakup was rectified as Favre returned home to enter the Packers Hall of Fame. During his 16 years in Green Bay, Favre, nicknamed "The Gunslinger", had plenty of memorable moments. Here are his five best fantasy performances in his career with the Packers.

5. Week 3 2004 "The Gunslinger" went toe-to-toe with eventual NFL MVP Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Favre was masterful, completing 30 of his 44 passes for 360 yards and four touchdowns. He threw a 79-yard touchdown strike to receiver Javon Walker to tie the game at 14 in the second quarter. But Manning overshadowed Favre on this day, throwing for 393 yards and five touchdowns, leading the Colts to a 45-31 victory. Still, the big day from Favre was one of his best five fantasy days in a Packers uniform. Fantasy Points: 30.4

4. Week 4 1998 Favre had just three five-touchdown performances with the Packers and in only one of those, he threw for over

350 yards. That happened in 1998 against the Carolina Panthers. Green Bay fell behind, 10-0, but three first-half touchdown passes from Favre pulled the Packers even at 20 going into halftime. Favre had two more scores in the second half and finished with 388 passing yards and five touchdowns. If not for three interceptions, this performance would have been easily No. 1 on our list. Fantasy Points: 31.22

3. Week 16 2003 This game is just No. 3 on the list, but it is No. 1 in our hearts. Favre lost his father the day before the Packers were set to play the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football on December 23, 2003. While conflicted on whether to play, Favre suited up and played the game of his life. He tossed four touchdown passes ... in the first half, completing the half with a perfect passer rating, which has been accomplished by only four other quarterbacks in NFL history. In the emotional night, Favre completed 73 percent of his passes for 399 yards and four touchdowns. Fantasy Points: 31.96

2. Week 12 2001 "The Gunslinger" had fewer passing yards and touchdowns in this matchup versus the Jacksonville Jaguars then he did against the Raiders, but a rushing touchdown boosts this fantasy performance to No. 2. Green Bay trailed, 21-7, with under four minutes to go in third quarter, but the deficit was quickly erased with two Favre touchdown passes in the final three minutes of the quarter. Favre's rushing touchdown after the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner. He had 362 passing yards and three touchdowns to go with the rushing score as the Packers won, 28-21. Fantasy Points: 32.98

1. Week 11 1995 Besides the game against Carolina in 1998, Favre threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns in just one other game during his career, which came against the Chicago Bears in 1995. Despite three Favre scores, Green Bay still trailed by seven in the third quarter. But he threw for two more touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 35-28 win. Favre finished the game 25-for-33 with 336 yards and five touchdowns. He went on to win his first of three straight league MVP awards that season. Fantasy Points: 33.64
