A letter from the President ~ My name is Ken Caeners and it is my great honor to welcome you to the ACYS Program and all we have to offer. Truth be told now is one of the most exciting times in our program’s 25 year history. God is laying out a new path and by His grace we are responding to His prompting to build and improve on everything we do. We are expanding into areas of outreach and sports program development, several for the very first time. New qualified staff members, coaches and volunteers of strong character are coming on board daily bringing with them a fresh perspective and dynamic experience to each of our programs. We believe it’s not enough to possess just a good resume but rather a good name to go with it. “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold”. People like this do more than just teach skills, they present inspiration and motivation to those around them; aspiring them to achieve something greater. Our mission is to create and foster an environment for these individuals to thrive and by doing so pour their lives into the lives of your children and family. Our vision is to see our work as more than just providing quality youth sports; it’s about doing life together unified in one spirit to serve one another daily for the common good of our community. It’s about serving real people, not pursuing an unrealistic perfection. Loving one another as described in the bible is more than an emotion; it’s a commitment to action. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This happens on and off the sports field. We hope you will act by joining together with us in this great pursuit, this season or in the near future. It’s going to be exciting journey! May God bless you & your family always, Ken Caeners ACYS President
Hello families and friends of Spirit United ~ It is a pleasure and privilege to be a part of the ACYS program. As your new Program Director I look forward to the great times ahead as we take the Spirit United Soccer program to a new level. We are capitalizing on the great things that have been done in the past and cementing the groundwork for our new and exciting projects. Keeping within the great tradition of ACYS and its wonderful sense of establishing faith and morals within our youth, we feel the need to give our kids greater goals to strive for. We here at the club have worked hard in involving ACYS in multiple facets. In addition to joining TOPSoccer, we are looking to provide greater challenges for our competitive teams with the goal of competing at the highest possible level within their age group, whether its Region Cup or State Cup. We plan to accomplish this by participating in highly competitive leagues while ensuring our highly qualified coaching staff stays active in their certification progress and development in order to give your kids the best overall experience and training. We want all our players and families to know that we appreciate the fact that you have chosen or are considering ACYS as your home club and that we are dedicated to you as well. We understand that stability is important in the lives of all children and young adults, and our commitment is to provide an instructive, fun and safe environment for them to grow as people and compete as athletes. We thank you for your interest in ACYS and look forward to our journey to exciting and successful times together with you. Thank you, Eddie Santos

ACYS was started in 1986 by a group of five spiritually minded men whose kids participated in youth sports. These men endeavored to begin a youth sports league based on biblical principals like integrity, fairness, teamwork, accountability, mutual respect and love. Their desire was to create an environment where the well-being of children would be put first over a win-at-all cost attitude; a place where if you weren’t the best player on the team you still received an opportunity to play and have fun. Most importantly, they desired to create a league that honored God not only in word but in action by modeling Christian values through its programs, policies and people. Today, ACYS has grown into one the largest multi-sport youth sports leagues in Central Florida. Each season we provide a quality fun, safe and instructional environment where kids can be kids while learning to play sports and experience important life lessons along the way. ACYS registers nearly 3,000 participants, some 300 teams over four sports: soccer, flag football, basketball and lacrosse. Soccer has the largest following and is played in both the fall and spring of each year. Currently only soccer has a competitive division called Spirit United which provides a venue for the more advanced athletes to develop and showcase their skills in soccer. Central to all our programs is an unwavering commitment to excellence, accountability and consistency! Come and experience the ACYS difference!
SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS ACYS is supported by a community of schools and neighborhoods throughout the greater Orlando Area. Several schools have participated in our various sports programs for over 20 years; The Master’s Academy and The Geneva School are two such schools. Our following is not limited to just Christian school participants or just one sport but the greater Orlando community and our many sports offered. We are a unique combination of public and private, Christian and secular. Listed below are many schools whose members participate in and help support the ACYS program. SPIRIT UNITED HIGHLIGHTS Paul Mansingh Selected to Join ODP
A BIG congratulations to Paul Mansingh for being selected to the Florida ‘96 Olympic Development Program and receiving an invitation to attend this summer’s ODP camp in Alabama. Paul is a member and captain of the ACYS U16 team coached by Derron Cornwall. He has played continuously in ACYS since he started playing the sport in elementary school, having progressed through the recreational program and into the competitive teams. In addition to his Club team, Paul played and started for the West Orange High School Varsity in the State finals this year, recently returned from a mission trip to the Haiti, and works as one of the Club’s referees. The Club is so proud of Paul’s achievements both on and off the field. It has been a pleasure to watch him grow up in ACYS and develop into the young man of character that he is today. Congratulations again to Paul, Coach Derron, and Paul’s parents, Loydie and Pam Mansingh!
U13 Boys - CHAMPIONS AT KELME!
The ACYS Elite U13 boys soccer team that includes Apopka residents Chase Cabney, Chase Gwynn and Aldo Ponce-Ortega claimed the U13 Gold championship at the 2013 Kelme Cup tournament in Naples, FL January 12 – 13. The boys and their teammates competed in the highest division within their age group and swept the teams in their pool, beating USA 4-0, Weston FC 3-0 and San Carlos Park 4-2. They then faced SAA Real Madrid Miami in a thrilling final that included a come-from-behind goal by Chase Gwynn in the last two minutes to tie the game at 1-1 and force a subsequent penalty shoot-out. The ACYS Elite team went a perfect 5-for-5 in penalty kicks and their goalkeeper made a crucial save, which lead to their victory in the championship. The ACYS Elite U13 team was the only team in their division to win every game, and had the best goal differential, scoring 12 goals and only allowing 3 goals to be scored against them.
Association of Christian Youth Sports (ACYS) is one of the largest multi-sport youth sports organizations in Central Florida. The ACYS Spirit United competitive soccer program features travel teams at the Competitive, Premier and Elite levels.
SU U16 Boys Finalist At Adidas Columbus Day Classic!
Fantastic Job SU16 Boys Lions this weekend! The U16 Lions entered the Adidas Columbus Day Classic tournament in Tampa as the least favorite to win. They came across the reigning Region B Cup Champions Clay County team and lost 1-3 their first game. Through leadership by the captains Paul Mansingh and Gabriel Rios, the team rallied together and won both remaining games against two formidable teams from Jacksonville and advanced to the finals with shutouts on both teams. The team then played in the finals against Clay County U16 team and lost 1-0, the team was able to get second place for their hard fought game in the finals. “It was complete teamwork and effort that was displayed by the boys over the
weekend, and I am very proud of their accomplishment,” said Coach Derron. Throughout the tournament, every player displayed passion and desire to win, but it is worth mentioning an extraordinary leadership from both captains Paul Mansingh and Gabriel Rios. Both guys stepped up and led their team by exemplifying leadership on and off the field.

TRIP TO HAITI
OUTREACH
On April 7th, my two sons, ( Joshua & Paul) and I joined 18 others from First Baptist of Winter Garden and Foundation Academy on a mission trip to Leogane Haiti through New Missions. We were there for five days. New Missions has 28 schools with over 9000 students. Our goal was to conduct a soccer camp and establish a soccer league amongst the schools. We also distributed about 600 shoe boxes. ACYS and FC Elite contributed about 10 boxes of soccer balls, shoes, socks, shirts, and water bottles. “I have been on mission trips before but have never seen such poverty. Haiti is a beautiful country that God majestically designed. In addition to significantly impacting the lives of the children in those 28 schools this experience was life changing for my sons Paul and Josh,” said Loydie Mansingh.
