INTRODUCTION This guide gives instructions on how to remove the Left-Side Motherboard (Green) of the Toshiba SD-K740 DVD player, which controls the display and disc drive function.

Step 1 — Top Panel

 Make sure the DVD player is unplugged before beginning. 

Remove the three .303 inch screws from the back panel using a #0 Phillips head screwdriver.

Step 2

 Turn the DVD player on its side. 

Remove the .303 inch screw.

 Now flip the DVD player onto its other side. 

Remove the .303 inch screw from this side.

Step 3

 Flip the DVD player over onto it's front face. 

Remove the back panel by lifting up and pulling it towards yourself.

Step 4 — Front Panel

 Flip the DVD player so its top is sitting on your working surface. 

Lift and push away each of the two tabs located in the middle of the player.

 The front panel will not come off during this step, so do not force it.

 Flip the DVD player on its side. 

Lift and slide forward a single tab on the side.

 The front panel will not come off during this step, so do not force it.

Step 6



Grasp the front panel and pull forward and to your right to remove.

Step 7 — Motherboard 

Remove the black tie holding the two rear ribbon cables together by untwisting it.

Step 8



Remove the first of two ribbon cables connected to the Left-Side Motherboard (Green) by pulling vertically.

Remove the second of two ribbon cables connected to the Left-Side Motherboard (Green) by pulling vertically.

Step 10 

Pull the two cables to the right to disentangle from the disc drive.

 Do not tug, pull, or force the cable, it should slide out with minimal force.

Remove the first of three ribbon cables on the left hand side of the disc drive by pulling vertically.

Remove the second of three ribbon cables on the left hand side of the disc drive by pulling vertically.

Remove the thrid of three ribbon cables on the left hand side of the disc drive by pulling vertically.

Step 14

 Flip the DVD player so it is resting on its front face(so the back is facing you). 

Remove the four .320 inch screws holding the motherboard to its casing.

Push the motherboard forward a couple inches to detach it from the casing.

Step 16



Lift the motherboard from the rear and pull backwards (towards you) to remove entirely from the casing.
